Firstly, replace the car for a truck. Secondly, check that the PSI is correct. How many miles on the tires?

Do all the tires look like this? Does the spare have this too?

Haha.. noted. Well the truck has 37k miles. I'm not sure if it's original tire. PsI is showing 39 for all four which went up to 41s on highway road trip.

The spare does not have these cracks.

Jeep Gladiator Crack in tires, Replace? IMG_2205

If you zoom in here, these tires were produced on the 5th week of 2015. That makes the rubber compound 9 years old. I’m willing to bet someone tried to throw those on there to move the truck. I would certainly consider getting them replaced and avoid highway driving.

Thanks. I was hoping that wouldnt be the answer right after purchasing. I wonder if it's legal for dealers to sell 9 yr old tires on a car.

That's an interesting question, though if you go back there's no guarantee that they will give you suitable tires.
They may give you two year old street tires that are too small, and you'll still be out of pocket to replace them.

Look through all of your paperwork, anything that says “safety inspection”, “multipoint inspection”, etc. They usually love to brag about these things that usually go un-done and is just for show.

Also go to a reputable shop and get in writing that these tires need replacement immediately as a safety concern. Also look at you window sticker if it boasts of “upgraded tires”.

Go back to the dealer and speak with a sales manager.

They don’t call them stealerships for nothing, but give them a good faith opportunity to fix the issue with a similar size and tire type. If they refuse, a bad survey and google review is usually enough to change their mind.

I replace tires after 5 years, sooner with trailer tires. I wouldn't use those tires to navigate a parking lot. I have seen instances of old tires blowing out while the vehicle was sitting, parked.

That might depend on the state.

So… @Tigg any update?
I went to a Jeep dealer today and lucked out that a tech was willing to drive around just to test the suspension, cause being my first jeep, felt floaty. But he assured its how rubicons ride.

I contacted sales rep from the Toyota dealership and it seems they might be willing to work with me, we are waiting on sales manager. I will give them a couple days. 9 year old tires on a 2022 while advertising New Tires online, I think they will help. If not I'll go to Discount Tire or local Jeep dealer and get the written inspection and take it for partial reimbursement or Google review it will unfortunately be.

Yes, in my state it doesn't say anything for used cars. But dealers can't sell tires older than 6 yrs. However on used cars, I don't think there are state laws in Texas for that. In California it goes by tread depth, can't legally sell a car less than a certain depth
