Custom Overland trailer build

Added pressurized solar heated water today. Poor mans edition. 3” ABS x 5ft long. I measured its volume around 8L or just shy of. I wanted 4” but they didn't have all the fittings so I’m playing with 3” as a test run. It exceeded my expectations! Its awesome!! 30psi and it ran on mist (plenty to shower) for easily 5-6 mins. I pumped back up to 30 psi once in between. Pretty awesome for around $70 cdn including the hose I built. Its painted flat black just need to take an updated photo.

Seriously love this build. Would love to get my hands on a little trailer to build off of like that. Anyone know of a source? Looks like the original builder sourced a city works trailer. I will have to be on the lookout.

Run a search for military surplus, I've seen some guys have built out and it's already got the ground clearance you want.

Final product. 4” x 5ft long. 2.5 gallons. Run time at 30psi is 10:15. Bigger pipe so I had to pump it twice in between. Super happy. My 3” fits in the bed of truck so I can use it to spray off at the beach or clean our mountain bikes. Just need a quick connect for the hose.

I almost bedlined the whole unit. Decided not to but i might in the future, just to hide some body imperfections.
Quick update. Added quick connect and tested the solar capability. Also added a hose holder. I would say high 80’s to 90’s in just 5 hours from tap temperature. Warm enough to shower for sure. I have about 2 hours more sunlight, curious how warmer it can get.

oh yeah it will be plenty hot. I have one of those 10 gallon blue ones from walmart that I just leave on my outside workbench to wash my hands and stuff and it was easily hot shower temperature today.

I wonder how aluminum ridgid conduit would work, might transfer the heat faster to the water but also quicker to cool at night…..Jack

Its something I might look into in the future. Get my local welding shop to build. Wouldn’t be hard at all to do. We will see, or just get the real deal 4gal unit. Already prepping for the Overland Vehicle Systems shower next!

I just got that shower surround today, funny enough. Also, I ordered a Joolca hot water system to run off the (2) 10.6 gallon water tanks I just got. Can't wait to start putting it together. Your build is awesome! I love the DIY Overlanding Trailers!

Tested the water temp. 28 celsius ambient and water was exactly 10 higher at 38 celsius. Thats in direct sunlight, so best case scenario here. I noticed that running on Mist cools the water at about 2ft of drop where as shower mode it stayed warm throughout. Shower mode appears to drain very quickly, my guess is 3-4 mins versus 10 mins on mist.

Look up BAM manufacturing. They do spun aluminum tanks.

Added a quick charge socket to the outside rear. Dual usb with voltmeter. Crazy easy install with inline fuse. Also ordered a Happybuy 5kw diesel heater that will be install come fall. We love to camp all year round so this will make that more comfortable. Stand by for that install.
