Has anyone else had the gonads to cut a chunk out of their hood for the cold air intake vent. Just ordered the kit and I am not to sure how this will turn out.

I didn't.
I admit it.
I paid a dude to make the cut.
same cut as for my snorkel.

IMPORTANT: If anybody finds just the grill for a MOPAR CAI, let me know!
then I can swap the snorkel to the next one when the time comes...;)

Cold air intakes aren’t as valuable as people think. In fact they’re nearly worthless.
Have to agree. They have their place.
They make a neat induction noise but not much in power gain. Unless you’ve tuned the complete motor...mapping, polished ports, intakes, exhaust, etc.

Mopar system coming out in December also requires cutting hood.

I tend to agree, unless you have a turbo being installed I would save your $'s

I want to add the snorkel, but have to admit, really only looking at the options where I don't have to cut the hood.

Wish I knew what happened to the 2018 SEMA snorkel that Rugged Ridge showed off for the JL. That thing was beautiful. I can't find a bit of information on if it's even going into production.

What about the Hauk Off-road one?

I like it but if you use this you no longer have your flip flops!:( Honestly I'd rather have the snorkel at the top of the windshield frame. Not that I will be that deep, I just think it looks better. The Hauk unit looks like it belongs on a diesel.

That one exactly. So frustrated by the lack of info on this. What happened, the demand seemed like it was there.
I agree. Was never really sure why it didn't come out (I just sent them a message). Interestingly enough, it appears to have two adaptable stages. This photo looks like there is another part/extension on the passenger seat.

The party on the seat gives a may for a snorkel. Cold air to window snorkel in a couple of minutes. Really cool design.
