I thought I read somewhere that Jeep actually has this type of functionality built into the 4WD system. When you activate 4-Low it turns off several of the safety systems in anticipation of being off camber.

Absolutely. Toyota does it. Its a button that says RSCA you hold down for a few seconds to deactivate the side curtains offroad.

Seems like an easy enough way to protect against deployment when offroading.

I still don't know how I feel about the Gladiator (Jeep Truck). Maybe it will grow on me. I just never really felt that a Jeep should be a truck.

For the majority of Jeep's existence they offered trucks so there is heritage there. Granted the Jeep truck line up until the 80's was focused on bigger trucks they certainly should have one in their lineup. This has been posted before but worth the watch if you are curious about the history of the Jeep truck. The video is missing some key things but its a decent attempt at capturing the history (minus the JK-8)

Well you have the right to your opinion and I know you aren't alone in your thinking. That said probably the wrong place to look for like minded folks as you are on a forum of overly excited nerds who have LONG waited for the return of the Jeep Truck!

So why are you posting in this forum? Seems to be a waste of your time.

4 1/2 months ago my JK Rubicon was t boned by a Mazda 3 running a red light. I had no doors on and had a 4.5” AEV lift and 37” tires. I was hit on the drivers front tire and rolled over onto my drivers side. My arm and leg got road rashed. My life was saved because my drivers side air bag deployed and my head didn’t slam into the road.

Needless to say, ANY car hitting a jeep a side curtain air bag is important. It doesn’t take a semi.

Not trying to be a smarta55, but unless you are broadsided by a semi-truck, I'm not sure the rear side air bags are really protecting much in a Jeep...

You are already sitting up higher than most other vehicles, so what's the bag to protect from?

Case in point: My brother was broadsided in our CJ-7 years ago. The CJ had no lift and stock tires. Other car bent the Jeep's side nerf bar. My brother unbuckled, stepped out, and walked across the hood of the car that hit him.

Me thinks someone just doesn't want you getting a Jeep... :(

Glad you are ok and good point re: air bags in rollover situation as I was only considering initial impact.

Question for you as I'm thinking about what I plan to do to my JT. Would you lift it 4.5" and run 37" tires again as a daily driver?

4.5 is probably way too much for 37s. JLs fit them fine with 2.5" I believe. Without regearing 37s will suck for a DD.
