Well, they didn't have all that much desire for my truck. The Build and Price tool has issues, they can order one with everything that I want. The lowest they would go was MSRP minus $750. So, I went and talked to the Finance person about the cost to upgrade the existing Extended Warranty on my truck. She gave me the pricing, said she would be happy to sell it to me, and then suggested I shop around before making a decision.

I found a new 2021 on a dealer lot about 200 miles away while looking last night. It is missing the Trail Rail package, and has the lighter color leather seats, but has everything else that I want. I'm going to contact them and see what they are willing to do. If that doesn't work out, I'll just wait and see about eventually ordering from Gupton or one of the other dealers that will discount the price.

I bought mine in February, so I wasn’t thinking about the black leather seats with the top off. Holy Jesus do they get hot. I have to keep towels onboard for the summer months. I wish I got the lighter leather color.

Hey Mike, What do you mean by this comment?

I've got an investment portfolio that averages about 6% gain a year over the last 15 years. I to have decided to pay a low rate loan for the next 4 years on the Gladiator so the money I have as an investment continues to grow vice disappears forever in the form of a vehicle that is 100% guaranteed to depreciate for at least 25 years. It makes way more sense to me to be paying 1.99% interest off a three year old vehicle with 2022 money.

A cash only mindset is literally throwing money away. I buy everything on a USAA Credit Card that pays me cash of 1.5% on whatever I buy---and I pay it off every month. That's why I never use a debit card that just pays what I owe.

I installed Anderson Windows and doors in my house. Bargained on the price and saved $4K from the original offer. I could easily pay cash---but why would I when they offered 0% financing for 18 months which allowed me to pay for the home improvement out of my monthly income without ever touching any savings.

Genuinely interested in your answer.
I wouldn’t waste your time. He’s an internet warrior probably living in his parents basement bragging about crap he only wishes he could do. Just like most of these, “I only pay cash and own 3 homes outright“ idiots. As soon as you see those self aggrandizing fools just keep on scrolling.

My 2021 JTRD sticker price was $66,060. I just had it in the shop last Thursday for the 20K service. When I went to my vehicle there was a written offer for $63,423 good thru 2/3/2022. This is $10K more than the same dealership offered me the first of October when I had it serviced at 15K miles.

Now that does not come close to what I've spent on this Gladiator Rubicon Diesel, Warn Zeon 12S
winch, 17x9" Fuel Off Road wheels, (5) Nitto 35X12.50X17" Trail Grappler tires.

So I'm guessing if I were to accept this offer, they would try to sell my Gladiator for $70,000 and pocket about 10%.

there are dealer fees stashed inside that 0% for 18 loan. Likely 9-10%

Good use of that word. I bet a lot of people had to look that one up lol.

To clarify…my family and I reside in 3 different homes throughout the year. I actually own 17 in total. 14 are rental properties. 10 of which are beach rentals. So……$2k to $4k a week during summer….approx 4 months +/- …… and $1.2k to $2k the other 8 months….you can do the math.

Oh…I have way better ways to show off….just saying….

This is America and everyone who develops, manufactures, installs etc etc deserve to make money. I have absolutely no doubt there is a profit being made and am glad to contribute to that profit by getting something I want at a price I'm willing to pay.

All that said it's funny that you say that inside the 0% loan is 8-10% dealer fees. No, the dealer fees [which are still likely over 10%] are inside the agreed upon price not the 0% loan.

I am able to divide $16K into 18 payments without paying a penny more than the amount for the windows and doors that I agreed on.

thats correct what’s also correct is that if u paid actual cash the cost associated with your project would be xyz % lower.
the dealer did not disclose that And I’m not arguing that they should however you didn’t borrow the money for free. if it was Service Finance, that was right at 14% if it was done this year

i own a large solar company I work or have worked with nearly every home improvement lender in the continental us

I see what you're saying. In my case I told them I was paying cash and we negotiated the price based on that. A couple of weeks later when they did the install they offered the 0% and the wife unit jumped all over it. It was with Synchrony not their finance department though I'm sure you're absolutely right that there is an agreement between the two. Wife unit mistakenly thought that meant we could do a pet project she had. Silly girl.

Always scary when someone thinks that because you can make the monthly payments that you can't be living beyond your means. :headbang:

I'll probably do solar to the house in two years. Plan and save is my motto----sometimes I even stick to it :). When it gets close I may try to contact you for advice on which way to go.

This is what’s great about getting exactly what you want the first time. There is Nothing they could offer me that would make me want to part with what I already have…

If the dealer is willing to buy yours outright without agreement to buy another from them then maybe take that into consideration and get a quote from Gupton or Peterson. That is if you can go without that vehicle for a few months and you have another to fall back on.
