I wonder how much a 1/16th inch is on degrees of caster? 24 5/16 passenger side. 24 1/4 drivers side. LCA although didn't measure the UCA. Might take into account the difference in caster some. 5.9 on DS and 6.1 PS. Could mean the difference between degrees of caster and death wobble. Being as it seems to happen almost always when I hit a bump on the DS of the truck.
I doubt that a slight side to side variation in caster would cause DW.
I don't think a front end that's all setup and torqued correctly would wobble with a 1/16th variance between one side and the other.

So 1/16 of an inch probably isn't enough. But this bushing probably is! Driver's side bushing UCA damn near our of it's housing. Managed to get in most of the way. But now I have another issue. Broke the breather off at the housing. Stupid hammer/stupid me. Now I need a fix for that! FML.

Did you piss off a gypsy or a witch?
Make sure you torque all control arm bolts with the wheels on the ground.

No fuckin clue. But yes all is torqued back down while on ground. See how much it helps. Not totally seated but damn close.

I’m in the same exact battle right now. I will know tomorrow how much 1/16 is because I rotated 1/2 a turn and it is going back on the alignment rack.
I think that bushing is hanging out on all gladiators. Mine is out and I’ve seen other posts on it.

Well fuck! I just got off the phone with Vegas 4X4 he said .2 degrees toe out vs toe in on stock steering. Also said lots of JL and JTs come in with this issue. Almost guaranteed he said look at ball joints!

So what was the end result?

So a 1/16 or 1/2 a turn on a Clayton LCA was about 0.2 degrees.

Interesting! Did you do 1/2 on bottom out and 1/2 in on top?

Adjusting the lower control arm will also change the wheelbase and effect the 4 wheel alignment.
Adjusting the upper control arm should change the caster without changing wheelbase or 4 wheel alignment.

Just saying.

@Free2roam I just realized my earlier comment wasn’t on this thread. These diesels are heavy and I don’t think the factory ball joints are adequate. Mine were all shot when I took them off.

44k miles. My first time and it wasn’t bad. I rented a ball joint press from the auto parts store. Worst part was the stuck hubs. I had to get a tool off Amazon to break them free. Lots of good YouTube videos helped as well.

Did you have to pull the axles?
