Check the fuse for the USB port in center console. If that fuse is bad, could be causing issues. F102 should be the one to test with either an ohm meter or a known good fuse of equal value/amp rating. Not promising anything, but a good place to start.

I have a miniature thumb drive plugged in the console that has nearly my entire music collection on it. That's a little over 1,800 individual songs in AAC format (because mp3 sucks). It is barely larger than the part that plugs in. It is basically part of the vehicle now, unlike my phone that I might not bring with me. Is there better tech that can do the same or better?
MP3 320kbps is about the same quality as AAC, but mp3 has better compatibility. Even today there are devices that don't play nice with AAC (apple's proprietary format from back when iPods ruled the music world). My whole library is MP3 320kbps and still sounds better than most paid streaming services.

I just turn the radio off. Shut the Jeep down. Wait until the interior lights shut off. Then turn the Jeep back on and turn the radio on. Seems to work for me.
"holding down the volume/power and tuner/selector knob buttons simultaneously for 10-20 seconds until the screen restarts"
- I've done this before, but the Tazer was being a bitch that time and just needed to be unplugged/plugged in again.

When I was turning my music collection into mp3/aac files there was one song, I forgot which it was, that mp3 could not get right even at high bit rates. It sounded like crap. Luckily it happened early in the process, before I had gotten too far. That's when I switched to AAC. I also have them all saved in a lossless format in case something better comes along.

What program were you using and what year haha. I remember iTunes had issues importing CDs to mp3, but that was over a decade ago and when songs were .99 cents or less.

It was iTunes and it was 2001 and was either from a CD rip or a lossless file from ripping a vinyl album. It was the only song I ran into that had a problem, but one was enough.

My wife has this problem. Had an iPhone 13mini for years and worked with the center console usb port. She got a iPhone 15 Pro and it only works from the dash USB. It really gets on my nerves. I tried rebooting the phone, that didn’t work. Not sure what else to do..

My iPhone 13 Pro is still on iOS 18.3 Beta 1, after having issues YEARS ago with an iPod no longer working with the oem 30-pin connector due to a firmware update to the iPod, I stopped updating my devices for compatibility reasons. I don't upgrade or buy the newest thing right away, heck I still have a 2002 wrx for my rally car because there's no nannies to bypass and you can direct control/feedback of everything, all while being road legal still.

Does it work with both USB-A and USB-C on the dash?
