This is just an information post... I'm not a happy camper. ( though I love my gladi)

2022 Gobi rubi gladi. (GROOT)
37k miles (yep, 1k out of std warranty)

DIESEL

Just had diesel fuel pump recall performed a month ago as well as rear diff sensor cable.

Engine light came on last week (left side yellow) and dealer said to bring it in today.

Problem is DEF tank sensor, but rocket scientists that designed it, made it not replaceable! So entire def tank system gets replaced...

Cost, $2500!!!

Luckily I have extended warranty but this should either be part of emissions (exactly), or drivetrain... I will deal with Chrysler later today via phone. My dealership is great but their hand's are tied..

Just thought i would pass this on all.

UPDATE. 5PM. spoke to Jeep wave, have a case number. Will let you know. I let them know the line in sand is drawn... this is all about principle...

Update 2, 4-10-24
Spoke with Jeep wave service. She said THAT portion (Def tank) is covered under 36k warranty, rest of "critical" emission components are 80k...
Sensor/tank are diff line items even though they can't be replaced individually!

Why this isn't critical considering its only job in life is emissions mitigation is beyond me, and if you don't have it working properly it forces engine to operate at low power seems to be an issue under BOTH POWERTRAIN AND EMISSIONS (critical)...

Bottom line, they are saying pay the deductible for extended, but they would work with dealer to pay for the "rental" addition of 2 more days because still not fixed.

My logic on this, if not a critical item then it can be removed without hurting my warranty! That is to be seen.

Jftr, I'm going to look into a class action fOR this and the battery/stop start BS so if interested just pm me... companies have to be made aware that we aren't sheep anymore...? This isn't about $100, it's all about principle...

That's fine as long as the rest of my extended warranty not affected?
Telling my friend to do just that if he gets a diesel, he's from SoCar after all

hopefully things turn around in the future and we dont have to keep quiet about it

The emissions on diesel engines have a long way to go to be reliable. It's not just Jeep but all makes. My Duramax has had 4 def heater assets, 4 nox sensors and a 9th injector. I have to do manual regens depending on how I have been driving. Emissions is kind of the reason I didn't hold out for a diesel Gladiator.

This kind of stuff is also why I didn't even consider a diesel gladiator. I'm all for pre-emissions diesels. Too complex and expensive these days. It's unfortunate.

your dealer as a curtesy should be able to push this through under warranty.
Talk to the Serv. MGR & Dealership MGR.

I have a 2014 Ram 2500 with the Cummins. The smog devices are insane and they are the same on the diesel JT. Ram has done over $10K in warranty repairs on it. I will never own another diesel.

In Calif I would never own a diesel that was not covered by a warranty. My 2014 has been given a 4 year 48K smog equip warranty from the Cummins recall.

I wanted to follow up on this thread. I took my 21 JTRD into a dealer in National City, CA (San Diego County) for the faulty DEF engine malfunction light (telling me I engine will shut off in 190 miles even though the DEF fluid was full). After all day in the shop, the dealer told me that this WAS covered under the emission warranty (my truck is out of factory warranty) so I would have no out of pocket expense. The bad news was the tank systems are on back order with no EDD, so my truck will set on the deadline for a bit.
