Hey everyone, recently bought my JTRD - haven’t even hit 3k miles yet and had a warning of “Exhaust System Service Required, See Dealer.” I use Hot Shots EDT every fill up, rarely idle, and was on hour 8.5 of a 9 hour drive from central CO to El Paso when this alert first showed up.
Sat in the dealership for a day while they troubleshooted and ended up forcing a regen.

I learned that there is no notification when the Jeep diesels begin a regen so I’m guessing I may have accidentally turned off the jeep/gotten gas during a regen.

Does anyone have recommendations for an aftermarket regen notification system or something that will work for this issue? This is my first diesel so I appreciate all the help I can get.

Get a Bluetooth OBD2 dongle and an app like Torque or OBD Fusion and create a panel like the one I used.

You can track regens, temps, etc…

I’ve got this:
ScanGauge - SG2 II Ultra Compact 3-in-1 Automotive Computer with Customizable Real-Time Fuel Economy Digital Gauges , Black , 5 Inch https://a.co/d/2aV3BJk

I’ve got it mounted to the bottom of the grab handle with a CMM ball adapter and a ScanGauge RAM backing plate.

I tells me if I’m in regen but also the DPF % so I have an idea of when I’m likely to go into one. I frequently still don’t notice when I do but at least I can check before getting off the highway. Mine loves to start regens when I’m creeping up a trail at 5mph.

I have my gauge set to display the DPF temp, Regen on/off, current boost and soot mass load (STM) which tells me how “full” the DPF is. It usually goes into regen between 60-75%. I also see it doing a passive regen on the interstate when this value decreases.

The Banks iDash gauge here. You can set it up almost the same way.

I would definitely recommend the Banks over the ScanGauge 2 for anyone considering their tuning products, since you’ll want the gauge too.

@Rusty PW, have you seen any Ram Ball mounts for this gauge? I’ve only seen the suction cup versions.

It occurs to me that I could simply screw a round ram ball mount to the back of one of these. I’ve been tempted to get a Banks tuner and one of these gauges. I’m just paranoid with the fuel system issue and warranty if they discover it. Thanks for the link.
To install and remove the Derringer doesn't take long. But you will be cussing the one plug. Getting to the release button is a bitch on the plug.

I removed mine until after the recall.
