Hi! After much time spent with jeep engineers the exodiesel was running hot with the winch setup where it mounts on top of bumpers. It blocks up to 40% of air flow to oil and intercooler. It is recommended to use the stock Mopar steel bumper or an aftermarket one that was an integrated winch mount.

Hope this helps and dropped my temps by 20 degrees…

Not a problem with the gas engine but definitely something to keep in mind on the diesel with the issues people have had with them cutting back in the heat.

I wish I would have seen this 6 months ago when I put my order together for the JT 370 package to at least question it for I just got mine last week waiting for serial number 1 front bumper from AEV. I have the new AEV bumper for the Diesel Rubicon with the winch and head lights, I've only got 700 miles on it and have not seen it over heat, would you share more with me what I should be looking for, do I need to load it more, certain temp variance?

My winch is lower and integrated not on top but the lights to cover the grill, perhaps this design because it's serial number 1 was improved? My ends come off I guess to rock crawl but that does not help cooling.

You are most likely running at towing temps. At 70mph I was around 245 or so. Now my jeep runs around 215 at that speed. It impacts fuel mileage too. I increased about 1.5mpg or more with lower temps. I bet if you were to tow you would probably overheat right away…

I got in-bumper to keep away from the airflow into the radiator, and to hide the synthetic cable from the sun.

I haven’t had any overheating issues when towing my camper but I believe I did experience the heat soak derating a couple of weeks ago. I was towing in northern Georgia and had just stopped for a quick restroom break. The engine was off for maybe ten minutes in 95 degree heat. I departed and when merging onto the interstate I had no power at all. Felt like the turbo wasn’t there. I pulled over with the engine running for a couple of minutes and never experienced it again. After reading about the intercooler getting heat soaked after parked I’m confident that was what had happened.

I leave next weekend for a five week trip from Florida to Moab/Colorado/Missouri/Arkansas. Kind of a BOH trip with a group. Hopefully I don’t have heat issues.
Just to be safe I did remove the Bull bar on my Mopar front bumper to allow maximum airflow. Might not make a difference but my measurements came up with about 50 sq inches of reduced airflow. Any little bit will help.

Which bumper did you choose? It looks great.

I went from a JCR which was built really well to something I could find local. Its a rugged ridge arcus. Bare bones and not a ton of protection but will work for what I intend to do with it...
