Thats my kinda crowd! City driving a JT is mediocrity at its best. You own it, now use it for what its designed for, ........smiles per gallon.

Anyone who wheels a JT knows that is its best asset. Its a Piss poor daily driver, as well as a fuel hog, but on the trails, its nothing but smiles. I hope to run into you on the trails soon. And I'll watch your channel, hell yeah. Just got back from Moab. Got a chance to do 4 trails this year, 3 last but I did 7 trails this year altogether. I still need to do the Rubicon and the Tillamook trails.
Elephant hill in Canyonlands was a super cool area. Another JT owner caught some video of me on Hells Gate;
Nice run up the Gate! We'll be back in Moab in the spring. I'll keep an eye out for you!

I LOVE wheeling. My JKU was the most fun I'd had in a vehicle since uh...high school! BUT...With the Gladiator, I'm slowly learning to be more responsible. The JKU got the lift, but then had to get beefier steering components, THEN changed ball joints many times. THEN regeared. wanted air lockers so here it come. Wait, some armor. Whoa no...New driveshafts.

Aside from that fun, I had $10k in damage on a wheeling trip once that thrashed my hard top, passenger doors, and windshield frame. I grenaded my passenger from axle shaft on a wheeling trip hours from home needing to pull the front driveshaft.

So...YES! I love wheeling...Will I go hard with the JT? Probably not. I'd really like to keep this critter a solid 5-8 years

Not much yet: Just some light mudding so far. But with Minnesota winters combined with crumbling roads, plus the need for a decent medium-sized pickup, JT was a no-brainer. That and it's the closest thing I've found to my old HMMWV as far solid build and "go anywhere, anytime" capabilities. Looking forward to taking it farther next summer.

I get turned around by downed trees frequently on Modoc National Forest trails.
Someone had already created a nice drive around it. Actually a couple spots. If I had my saw I would have cut it out of the way.

Could you have cut the tree or moved it?

Sometimes I'm able to drive around, sometimes not. I've hooked up to trees with rope and pulled them out of the way. Sometimes I have to give up, turn around and go elsewhere. I don't carry my chainsaw ever since the doctor told me no more firewood cutting. I've thought about taking the saw along though...maybe sometime in the future.

Other than the occasional foray into country dirt roads, and cruising the Texas coast line beaches, nope.

Hardcore wheeling ? Not my thing. I bought the gladiator because I was sick of 6 figure luxury cars and worrying about potholes, parking, etc.

The utility of the Gladiator is exactly what I wanted. I had no interest in a regular pickup truck.

I'm thinking of carrying a sawzall instead of a chainsaw.
