can these fridges be stored in the heat. For example under a tonneau cover all day long as long as it's plugged in? Can it sit inside a hot car all day as long as there is power?

We have ways to keep power to it, just reality is its going to be stored in some hot stuffy areas, so just trying to get expectations in line before I decide to buy or not.

I keep an ARB in the back of our JKUR fulltime. When it is running and hot out I will crack the windows to let heat exscape if it is parked. I have an ICECO that we use in the back of the Gladiator under a tonneau and it stays cool in the bed. FYI, getting a frig really is a game changer for camping. If both ours were to fail, I would buy a new one immediately.

I used mine in 100 degree heat for about 15 days in the back of the truck with a topper. It never seemed to matter- everything stayed cold.

We've got a Dometic and we only kept it shaded all through our trips out west and not only did it shrug the heat off but it didn't seem to draw much more power holistically than it did while home in PA. They are near witchcraft levels of spooky efficient.

I have an Engel that I keep in my truck bed running 2/7 under a hard tonneau cover for 2 summers now. I keep the truck in the driveway and the summer heat gets to over 100 degrees here, so, the bed is baking. I use a Bluetti LifePO4 to keep it running. Note: LifePO4 batteries are safer in the high heat. The fridge uses much more juice during these super hot summer days, but, it has never switched off. A few times, I have had the LifePO4 battery get too hot and trigger the battery temp sensor. If I remember correctly, it refused to take a charge until the battery cooled down, but, it was still discharging and powering the fridge - TBC. My bed is basically empty, so, there is lots of breathing space in there when it is super, super hot. Here is a pic.

It'll be fine. My Dometic has been running essentially nonstop since 2016 in the back of my Jeeps and bed of Jeep since then, through all temperatures from 10 degrees to 119 degrees with no issues.

I even take mine through the car wash, and it has been covered in snow :)

Had my Dometic CFX 35 with the padded cover in the back of the Mojave for almost a week. It was under my closed Bak X4s except when I was getting something out or putting something in. Jackery ran it fine and would charge back up when I was driving. That was in the Houston summer with 100+days and 5000% humidity.

Fridge works very well as long as you don't leave it exposed under the hot summer sun. Then it'll have a hard time keeping up with the heat and drain your battery. Just keep it shaded and it'll do well.
