Thanks for all the information and suggestions. I took it to a second dealership who found a loose intake hose that the first dealer (who fixed the HPFP issue) either failed to secure or knocked loose. Additionally, Jeep sent a Field Service Tech to look at and drive the vehicle. He checked out the lift, tires, calibration, etc and reviewed all of the service records. He said the 37s have nothing to do with it. He thinks it was the loose hose. I have not had the opportunity to test it yet (the issue only surfaces at elevation, and that's a couple of hours drive from here). We shall see.

You should try that and let us know if it makes a difference
Vehicle is long gone but that would not have made a difference. I had taken many mountain trips in the past with the same wheel tire set up. This was some new problem. They never were able to fix it.

Well, I can add mine to this list. I had the random oil high temps and reduced power. Last night turbo flipped out, sounded like the blow off valve was stuck open. I noticed on the left front body insulator (in front of drivers tire) was wet with oil. It's a 2022 gladiator with 7500 miles on it. It is on 40's with 4.88's. It's at the dealer and I will see what they do. I believe in the oil cooler idea, but don't like that insane diesel is the only option. I'm curious one poster in this thread said electrical issue and possible misread on temps. I'm not convinced of that. The fact my turbo failed make me think the hot oil temps contributed to early failure.

The bearing failed on the turbo?

Turns out clamp on the charge pipe failed. They replaced the pipe. Oil was from blow by, which dealer claims normal. Seemed excessive to me, but I guess that's subjective.

Anyone still dealing with this? Any new insights? I’ve had it light up the dash (stability warning) on my JTRD and kick me into limp mode a few times. Usually when it’s over 85 degrees and I’m accelerating up a hill. I’m carrying a lot of weight with an Alu-cab Canopy Camper. All gauges were reading fine, none showing anything hot and oil temps were in 220-230 range.

Question: I’m wondering if gearing would affect it. I’m currently using the stock 3.73s and thinking of going to 4.55s. The theory being it should pull the weight up the hills easier (and cooler).

Thanks! Any and all input welcome.

Look at the wiring harness above the DPF and see if it laying on the EGR tube first.

I have run mine at GCVWR on 3.73's A LOT in the mountains and never had the issue you describe, so I doubt 4.56's are going to do much of anything.

anything obstructing the airflow through the grill? You may want to cruise up the hills, instead of accelerating… I have the smartcap with a RTT on top. I’ve never had any problems like you described. 23 JTRD - 3.73 stock - deleted

Hi guys,

I read carefully this thread and as I had to make a small trip this morning, lots of start/stop, temperature was 20 degrees C (68 F) , oil was at 99 C (210 F).

So my question is : what is the « normal » oil temp, looking more for an average.
Are you shocked with this temp this morning ?

not towing, not speeding, max 60 mph… and I’m scared… next trip is about 1750 kms to go to Italy leaving on Sunday with temperature expected between 86F up to 104F…

I will make sure I keep an eye on my oil temp…and will keep you updated.

An oil temperature of 210°F is perfectly normal for a fully warmed engine and in no way shocking. For sustained highway/motorway speeds at the temperature range you're expecting for your trip, I would consider 220-235°F to be normal for your oil.

I don’t see anything laying on it. Sorry for the bad pics and still have mud from the Dempster sitting on it.

Just the warn winch. Agreed. I need to be more patient. 🤣

Look farther upstream......like under and forward of the passengers feet. I have also seen harnesses pulled tight up against the heat shielding along the frame/body.
