Looking for some insight on an issue I’m running into with my 2023 Mojave manual.

From what I understand, there are two ECUs—one older style that’s supercharger-compatible, and a newer version (mid-2021+) that isn’t. My Jeep has the older style ECU, even though it’s a 2023.

The problem: in low range, the manual transmission doesn’t seem to account for the higher RPM-to-tire-rotation ratio. This triggers a hot clutch warning and, if ignored, forces limp mode. From what I’ve seen, this mostly affects manual Mojaves.

My question: does the ECU control the clutch-slip monitoring, or is that handled elsewhere? If the ECU is responsible, swapping to the newer one might fix the hot clutch issue. If not, replacing it won’t make a difference.

Also—besides plug orientation (side vs. top)—is there any real difference between the two ECUs? In other words for a supercharger that’s the only identifying factor compatible versus incompatible? At least until the five version is unlocked and tuned?

I think there is a sensor. That monitors the clutch slippage and then relays it to the ECU

Thats the first 2023 I ever seen with the Gpec-2A in it .. winder if it is because its a manual ?? I would be extremely curious 🤔 cause the question arises are all manual Gladiators GPEC-2A like the mid-21' and backwards 🤔?? That definitely looks liike the GPEC-2A.

I’m pretty sure they aren’t interchangeable, the wiring harness connections are likely different, I’d almost be willing to purchase a new ECU to swap and try if they are interchangeable.

Its the 19A recall software causing your problems. There is at least one company mentioned on the board that will unlock your ECU and remove the new update.

They are not interchangeable. If it was that easy those of us with the GPEC5 would just buy unlocked gpec2a ecus and swap allowing tuning, supercharging, etc. I don't think the ecu type is going to help with your issue anyway.

They aren't mainly due to things like the RFI hub and other things. But if you have and it looks like you do have the older version then your Golden .

If you know tell me I feel like I read everything on the entire internet related to the hot clutch issue. My jeep is still under warranty for almost 2 and 5 years so I’m not sure how deep I want to get but if I can delete that I’d be very happy, I also will upgrade to a ACT eventually. Read everything related on this forum I could find as well.

Magnusson informed me HD tuning unlocked the GPEC5 and as soon as they get the what they need they will start on the kit for the newest jeeps they said stay tuned for an update.
