Has anyone purchased a pre-tuned ECU from EOC? If I were to buy one of theirs, is it as simple as removing my stock ECU and installing theirs? I dont plan on doing the trans tune, at least not yet.
Yes, it is that simple. You just supply your VIN. But, be aware, there will be a red security light on the EVIC at all times whilst driving.

I wonder if a pedal monster would help with the surge? I've been thinking about one lately.

Also, anyone know why towing is not recommended on the street tune?
I have wondered the same with the Pedal Monster. Rock-crawling requires a much lighter foot than before. I believe the EGTs get too high when towing with the street tune.

Yea, I got a stage 1 PMC, stage 2 and a stock PCM. Ideally I’d go stage 2, but wanted to cruise in the stage 1 to build confidence… I’ll figure out when to go stage 2 eventually.
We are thinking about doing the same. Did you have to buy each tune separately or did you work a ā€œbundle discountā€ price? EOC or MrTuning or GDE?

How bright/distracting is the light? Is it that same small red light that comes on sometimes when the alarm goes off?

I wasn’t impressed with the tune… when towing I saw odd behavior… it short shift from 2nd to 3rd kinda lugging in 3rd. Then down shift from 4th to 2nd really ramping up the RPM (2800-3000rpm). At low speeds I’d see the cluster flicker between 1 and 2 and also flicker between 2 and 3 (I have the setting to show the gear number next to ā€œDā€ on the cluster… when the numbers were flickering, it was holding gear and I’d press the gas and it would quickly upshift, it just didn’t feel right …

remember that was when towing, when NOT towing, the behavior was much better, and oddly I feel like it hangs onto 2nd gear a little long, whereas towing it quickly upshifts from second.

regardless of towing or now, first gear is JUMPY, very touchy … it makes the truck feel sporty …

of course I sent a detailed email to EOC and no reply … yet. The typical 1 week turnaround is now passing about 2 …

The tune is completely reversible, I used the tuner and reloaded the factory transmission tune … I may or may not ever reload the EOC trans tune, we’ll see what EOC says.
Still no response to my previous email to them, did you get anything back?

No reply … I reloaded the tune and been driving for about a month, no towing … but on the street it’s pretty good. A little snappy accelerating from a stop, took a bit to get used to starting off smoothly. I’ll report back when I can try towing again…

the theory is that I have more miles ā€œre-learningā€ the TCU… we’ll see what happens.

Yes, that light. The one in the bottom right of the tach gauge

Thanks, I dont think I would mind that.
Why not get a PCM from your dealer and have them program it? I did that, no problem. A little more cost, but there's no red light.

Based on everyones feed back I think I want to limit the amount of mailing things back and forth with EOC. A little red light isn't a big deal to me.

I have been getting a P2002 error code recently. Currently I have an extended warranty that expires at 100K and I'm at 97K now. Dealership replaced the particulate sensor last time I got the P2002 code. About 1K miles later it came back, so I cleared the code through my Tazer and it hasn't come back yet, but worried it will. I have been reviewing EOC's website and it is hard to understand the difference between stage 1 and stage 2. Here are my assumptions, can anyone verify if this is correct?

Stage 1 - Have the option to turn off EGR and DEF, but you still keep factory exhaust and all of the DEF system.

Stage 2 - The tune turns off EGR and DEF, and you must remove DEF tank. It look like you also need to install the aftermarket exhaust.

I'm not really concerned about having to remove the DEF tank or exhaust, but if both tunes turn these items off why do you remove parts with a stage 2 and not the stage 1? Sorry for the questions, but this will be my first deleted vehicle and I want to understand what I'm ordering.

I have the Pedal Monster and the Derringer installed on mine. They are both very good. I always forget to turn them off when I am rock crawling and after the first few obstacles and having trouble feathering the throttle I realize I still have them enabled. You just need to remember to disable it/them before you start your trip.
