Dont autoworkers make well over $100,000? Unions and all that? They can’t claim the slave driving anymore like blue collar workers in the 70’s and 80’s.

I worked at a steel plant after high school for a summer to make extra cash. It was eye opening. Several were former felons. A couple people were severely injured over the course of a couple months.

One guy was one of the friendly old timers, had his entire chest burned by a huge blow torch from someone not paying attention. Another had his heel shaved off when one of the beams tipped over and he didn’t quite make it out of the way. Now when I see all these safety posting about how many days without incidents, I wonder what the hell kind of place I was working at, at age 17….

I got given shit for working too fast and running out of stuff to do. The supervisors loved me and were sad to see me go….it was motivating to do well at college that fall….

Well if you think that's bad, wait until you hear about Boeing.

I guess this confirms “Monday and Friday cars.”
Now we need to find a way to check to see if a car was built before or after lunch too.

Shhhh... don't tell the Boomer Boards guys that.

I can see it now: One of the 6 of that combination of color and interior of base model V6 Challengers with the Premium Audio Package and 18" wheels built before lunch on March 21 2015.

It wasn’t just in the USA - I visited a BMW assembly plant in Germany in the early 80s and there were vending machines with beer on the assembly line.

I worked on a new MB in the 70’s with a rattle - turned out to be an empty schnapps bottle inside the passenger door. I guess it all depends on the standards that management and the Unions will enforce.

Germans have a different attitude and social perception when it comes to beer over there. Beer to them is like what soda is to us here in the USA.

Spent a bit of time in Germany back in the 80's when I was in the Army. Just about all the German tradesman workers had a bottled beer or two in the their lunch box for break or lunch time. Never saw them to excess or drunk on the job.

I heard about a bar that was in one GM plant - setup up in a parts warehouse section. Management looked the other way.

I've seen that too in Germany. Vending machines with beer at the work place.

The favorite of some of the lushes that worked the shop floor at my work was the ones that carried the big “Bubba Mugs” or similar. They had their “Gin & Juice” or “Jungle Juice” mixed up sipping all day to keep the DT’s under control.

We had the same thing of a few were great workers so long as they were maintaining a level buzz. To little or too much, they were a liability. Company never tested unless there was a high material cost or injury accident.
Had one guy that was falling down drunk at the end of every shift. Couldn't figure out how he was doing it. He would bring in oranges and drink orange juice all the time. Someone ate one of his oranges. That's how we found out. He was injecting his oranges and his orange juice mixed with grain.

At some point, you have to take built up alcohol tolerance into account.

Actually the fit and finish on my 2023 Gladiator is excellent. I have been over just about every square inch of the vehicle and it amazes me the attention to detail relating to how well it is put together. The paint job is marvelous.

Hopefully they figured out the bubbling paint issue.

Lots of us had or still have bubbling paint on the hood, hinges, and some other areas.

Kinda old news and the pearl clutching over that has long been done and moved on.

I am sure if a news camera crew clandestinely followed most of us on our lunch break which is usually unpaid and our time regardless, you are going to find a good percentage getting lit or doing other questionable shenanigans.

I do not condone it, but understand it. Blue collar is going to be a bit more rough around the edges about it. White collar is no better, they are just doing it behind close doors at work with their vices.
Maybe I got lucky, but I've actually been notably impressed by the fit and finish on mine... I was going to comment on it.
