I've had nothing but Jeeps for the last 21 years. I started with a Liberty, then 2 Grand Cherokees, with a Wrangler sandwiched in between them, and now a Gladiator.
I never felt comfortable calling any of them a car and I bristle when I hear any one else do it. I obnoxiously correct any one who calls my Jeep a car and I pass it off like I'm kidding, but I'm really not. Some people would call them all trucks but that never sounded right to me either, except for the JT of course.
I have called every single one, simply my Jeep. How about you?

Well, prior to the Gladiator, it wasn't really a truck either. Except for the Scrambler.

either "the truck" or "the Jeep".
My wife uses the latter - to which I respond - "which one" - then she says "ok, your Jeep"
(she has a Grand Cherokee - and has owned several since the mid-90s)
We never say "my" - or almost never......... she'll refer to hers as "my Jeep" now and then when we have to differentiate.

Maybe people didn't know that the Jeep Cherokee was classified by Jeep as a "station wagon" through the 90s?
The Grand Cherokee is also licensed as a station wagon. Jeep didn't refer to them as SUVs - the media did that originally.

When we say we'll take the car - it's my little red one (since I've still got the other one tore apart and she hates the noise of the headers and racing mufflers)

I’ve always called my Jeeps “the Jeep”. Like lm taking the Jeep to town, or the Jeep needs work again. I never officially named any vehicle beyond calling it what it is other than my protege which I refer to as “the mazdarati”. I did name my Jt Willys though. Since it’s all black, I refer to it as “Threat level midnight”. Those who know will know.

Life is too short to get upset by things like this. Car is a Generic term used to reference almost any vehicle. Many people will say 'your Car' if they are unsure what term to use, or what term the owner prefers. Some people don't notice things like that, and have no clue what to call it.

I refer to the Gladiator as my truck. I have not let anyone else drive it (other than the dealer). I bought a midsize Pickup to replace a full size Pickup. I don't like pointing out that I drive an expensive Jeep pickup, and I don't name my vehicles, so it is just 'my truck'.

Especially in other countries or certain parts of the US.
Rolls off the tongue easier.

(Seems like only Americans say "SUV" or "Truck" and hardly anyone says "pickup" any more - it's all cars in some places.)

I don't let anyone drive my Jeep. My wife is not allowed to touch my better half either.

I call it " the jeep" but this really is situational.

I had a 2004 WJ which I called the jeep. I had a 91 wrangler that I called the Jeep. If I owned any of these at the same time I would switch and call them by their model. 'Babe, going to the store, taking the wrangler"

Same with truck. I'd call the gladiator the truck but we also have a ram... so it is Jeep and ram.
