So I recently did an exhaust delete on my 2021 Gladiator when it had about 400 miles on it. I’m creeping up to 1200 miles and I love the throaty sound the exhaust makes with just a few pieces of welded straight pipe. However, winter is coming and I am growing concerned about potential in-leakage of cold ambient air back into my motor since I was unwilling to weld the straight pipe to the factory pipe connected to the cat. Does anyone know a website with decent prices for straight pipe exhaust? Also, the exhaust delete does increase the gas mileage on the gladiator, I went from 16 city mph to upwards of 18.7 city mpg. Wasn’t able to get a good measurement of the highway mileage increase since most of my driving is done on city and back roads with speeds ranging from 25-45 mph.
Check these guys out.. I have ordered the Moderate system..

I am kind of lost here on your question. “a few pieces”? “Website with decent prices for straight pipe exhaust”?
Maybe a couple of pics of what you did would help.
Straight pipe can be done at most any muffler shop, so Are you just wanting the pipe?
Hey, an audio clip would be cool too.
Cheers.

Back pressure and more free flowing exhaust maybe.

I would have to hear this set up. Not many engines less than a V8 sounds good gutted.

Remember in the past when you didn’t have enough back pressure it would damage the cats, not sure if that is still a issue or not.

How did you deal with the exhaust drone these engines create between 1600 and 2300 RPM?

I tried a couple exhaust systems and the drone at highway speeds was absolutely unlivable. It sounded like I was riding in an old triumph motorcycle with the exhaust delete and an aluminum can. Ear shattering!

Took out the first resonator and the huge muffler. Left the last resonator. Added a J pipe to cancel drone at around 2000 rpm. Love the sound.

I had the B2 Fabrication delete on for less then a week, hated it, drone from hell. The bends were sharper then necessary and the bends were also wrinkled. Waste of my hard earned money. I now have a Corsa Sport Dump, the quality of the Corsa is outstanding, sounds great.

In my '96 4.0 L ZJ, I had put in a performance CAT and then the Edelbrock free(r) flow exhaust and mandrel bent pipes. That coupled with opening up the intake, addition of Ford Motor Sports 22lb/hr fuel injectors (direct fit from the similar era 5.0L Mustang engine, multi-point fuel spray instead of the 19 lb/hr single point fuel spray) increased my fuel economy significantly. 16-17 mpg running around and 19-20 mpg highway, when I first got it. After these mods, 20-21 mpg running around and 24-25 highway. Best seen was 25.5 mpg driving from MA to FL and by that point I had like over 175K miles on it.

Having said all that, yes I can understand how mileage can increase. Basically an internal combustion engine is a big assisted air pump. Make all that air flow easier and not only can you increase fuel economy but power as well. I witnessed it with my ZJ.

My JT...first got it in July of 2019, nearly zero miles, drove it from home (West Chester, PA) to Boston, MA and got 23 mpg highway for the trip there and back. Now, I average (calculated) 19 mpg running around (18 mpg in winter because of fuel blend) and over 23.5 mpg highway. Only engine mod is a K&N drop in for the air filter. Otherwise, stone stock. Will be going from factory 255s to 275 or 285 tires soon for more stability towing so that'll probably affect my mileage a little.

Audio clip?
Have you tried to capture exhaust audio recently? Phones are designed to automatically reduce background noise. I tried capturing the drone from my exhausts, it sounded like silent highway driving. Just removed all of the exhaust noise.

I bought 3 pieces of 18 inch long 2 1/2 inch Id stainless steel exhaust pipes and mig welded them together after clamping them together. I did this just to test for sound and affect straight pipe would have on gas mileage before I spent the money on a brand name exhaust.

I have not done that yet but I will try that later today.

I gotcha now. I am a little slow on things, so you were doing a test.

The first 10 seconds are the best sound. Sorry was unable to shorten the video.
