Extended Warranty advice / recommendations?

I may be mistaken but if you wait until just before end of std warranty, they still start from delivery date.

I’m not exactly sure what you’re referring to… but….

The amount /rate an insurance company can charge for an extended warranty can be based on the age & mileage of the vehicle.

If they’re charging you for 3 years coverage that’s already passed….that’s a bunch of BS. Don’t fall for that shit…….. Find another insurance company.

It's as simple as, if they had to pay out more in claims than they made in fees, they wouldn't be in business.

Insurance, warranties, all pyramid gambling schemes. At least you can opt out of the warranty.

So...I hate to open a can of worms but I'm 1 1/2 years into ownership of the Gladiator and I'm being bombarded with extended warranty offers. I would like to get one at some point but need advice on witch one to go for. I want as many years as possible and bumper to bumper coverage as I plan on having this vehicle a very long time. 2024 and only have 4500 miles on it. Any advice would be appreciated.

You have a about 100,000 mile powertrain so if you're going to buy an extended warranty, just buy it on your technology which is the most expensive and the most messed up part of these Jeeps. I have an EcoDiesel and with the 100,000 mile warranty on powertrain I purchased a technology 60,000 mile warranty for $2,000 through the dealership

I'm getting too old to crawl around under vehicles so I'm getting all service and repairs done at the dealership where I bought the truck. That way they have all the records...I hope

Once you narrow it down on whom you’ll use, take their paperwork that explains just how secure you are knowing they’ll cover your vehicle “bumper to bumper” (but actually bumpers are never covered) and read it slowly until you come across the wording “warranty does not cover wearable parts”, and highlight it.

Then when you get them on the phone ask them, doesn’t every part on a vehicle wear? They’ll say YES and there is where when they feel they’ve paid enough out on repairs, they can deny future repairs and just say “it’s a wearable part”.

Extended warranties are never bumper-to-bumper. This is a misnomer, or "lie" to sell you a warranty. The only bumper-to-bumper warranty is the one that came with the new car purchase, and even it may have limitations...

Every contract has inclusions and exclusions. You need to have read the inclusions and exclusions pages (yes, pages) before buying the warranty. Never assume. I have seen $15,000 RV warranties deny coverage for multiple items (I spent 3 years as an RV Service Advisor then Service Manager).

This is the one I've been thinking about, now they are saying price increases are coming after the 1st of the year. Not sure if this is just a sales tactic or what, either way if I buy the 8 year coverage it starts on the day I purchased it. So I may just wait it out another year.

I actually just bought the factory Mopar warranty, sounded like a good plan for someone my age who can no longer work on my own vehicles. I don't drive to too much so I took the 8 years and 85000 miles Max Care plan. I have 3 other vehicles to drive.

Good call. Most third-party warranty policies, are not worth the paper that they are written on..IMO. But everybody to their own.

You nailed it. My thinking exactly, casinos and insurance companies wouldn’t be in business if they didn’t come out on the winning side more often than not. The only reasons i buy extended warranties are to protect against lemons and my wife. However, I’ve sold every warranty back after a year or two and get most of my money back. I need to sell one back now as a matter of fact - great reminder!

We bought the Lifetime MOPAR Warranty on our 2016 JKUR when new, it was just over 4 grand. We have all the service done at the dealership, and the warranty has more than paid for itself. No plans to sell or trade the rig, just over 115,000 miles, you never know with the 3.6, we might be on borrowed time! A friend had the same year and model/warranty, they did one head/valvetrain at a time over a 6 month period, the Jeep was in the shop for an extended time, but minimal dollar cost. Stellantis no longer offers the "Lifetime" coverage.

5year Honda & Mercedes Service Advisor here. I call warranty companies daily. Most are garbage.
The best I have worked with are:

Zurich
JMA/Fidelity

Beyond that is a crap-shoot. Most warranties have more "exclusions" than "inclusions". Some warranties only cover listed part numbers. Some only carry listed part names. Some don't cover nuts and bolts. Some don't cover seals.

You are generally better off investing $5000 in an S&P 500 Index mutual fund, then pull money out when needed.

Remember, the house always wins. It is rare a warranty company pays out more than you paid for the warranty itself.

Once again I do this daily, and when I bought two brand new Jeeps last year I did not buy extended warranties, even though I get them at cost from my dealership.

*I did buy 3 years of windshield coverage for $700 for each Jeep from PWC (Prosidium) because PWC covers OEM Jeep windshields and calibration. One windshield breakage and it pays for itself.

100% agree. I values my times and can gets angry very easily lol. So, i've never purchased any kinds of extended warranties to avoids dealing with anxiety and the hassles. I just hates calling them 800 numbers.

Extended warranties! I have never purchased an extended warranty. I'm also the type of person that keeps a vehicle forever. Yeah, there is always a kid in the room that will raise there hand when the teacher asks the class if they have ever had a major claim on their extended warranty. There are also several kids that will raise their hand when asked if their claim has ever been denied.

Do your homework! Review the different warranty companies. Keep your records in order. Cross your fingers.

I like the idea of $5k in the S and P 500!! That has been my game for years. That program can save you lots of interest payments to the bank too.

The problem with that is, people living paycheck to paycheck can't do that. So what do they do? The extended auto warranty should be out of the question. Focus should be on family, home and their job.

Also be careful if you plan on doing any modifications to your jeep as that could also make your extended warranty useless as they would deny any claims depending on the modifications. I talked the service manager about it for mine and they said it would be useless for me as they would just deny everything due to my modifications but the dealership still honors the powertrain warranty no issues.

Yeah I'm the rare Jeep owner who likes everything original, l put in a bed mat and a tonneau cover and I'm done. I have a 2010 JK and I've only added side step bars ,for my wife and a locking gas cap door. That's it for me.
