So are "Rock-Trac" and "Selec-Trac" the same thing?
No, Rock Trac is Rubicon 4:1, Select Trac is every other trim 2.72:1. Both are available with or without 4A

When you say "looking for selec-trac" Everyone understands you mean Selec-Trac with full time 4wd. But being pedantic, all Select Trac mean by itself is "looking for non-rubicon"

U really don't get it or haven't read the year's worth of posts on the topic. I have general tires and do great in pure snow and unplowed roads but it's PART TIME so when you hit half a mile of dry road you shift then oops a drift coming uo shift again and so on and end up shifting 10 times in 6 miles. Or its a nice night with dry roads mostly and then you find the wind has blown the light snow across and there's slick spots or like saturday freezing rain made sections slick. Do some reading on the topic in several threads. Here you have to keep shifting the t-case due to constantly changing road conditions several times a mile. Put it in 4H auto if the roads or weather are iffy. Especially for a 65 year old handicap woman who can't mess with constantly shifting a stiff transfer case in changing dangerous raod conditions.
Ok...got ya...I guess shifting in and out of 4wd doesn't bother me but you have a good point...thanks

The Rock Trac 4:1 Full time was $695 on the window sticker for my 22 JTR. I bought it off the lot. I would definitely recommend it. 5 stars

The only Gladiator that gets the Rock Trac T-case is the Rubicon AFAIK. I'd definitely ask for a picture of the shifter based on those descriptions haha.

Rock trac is a 4:1 low gear ratio, Only the Rubi gets that. command trac is a 2.72:1 low range, all the other gladiators get this one.

Selec Trac IS the option for 4H Auto and is available for both Rock Trac and Command Trac T-cases.

Selec-trac is one of the options that drove me to ordering one vs. buying off the lot. I've never seen it on JT's in dealer inventory. Definitely worth it if you live in an area that gets snow and you're driving on semi sketchy asphalt, but not enough snow to warrant 4H/ Engage 4H without binding.

Thanks all.
I'll consider getting a factory build quoted. My JTM is a bit of a Unicorn as it is, but I want ACC, cold weather, steel grey leather, and the Selec-Trac.
Hate to even think about trading after getting my truck so dialed in with the lift, steering, suspension, and the $5000 in aftermarket goodies that I basically got for free when I bought it.

No snow this winter so far. LOL
Maybe I'll order a new one in late summer.

Selec-Trac allows the front & rear driveshafts to spin at different speeds, acting like a center differential. 4H Part-Time locks the front & rear together, forcing them to turn at the same speed, which makes cornering on slick surfaces more difficult.
Thank you...makes sense

Was on my phone with my wife in the MRI thing and my fingers are screwed up so it was more haphazard a message than usual LOL.
Anyway, it's more like our Grand Cherokee was. I had to shift into 4H to get out of our driveway while my wife drove her GC right up and out onto the road without slipping a wheel. Now I can do the same.
I love my General Grabber A/Tx tires, wonderful winter tires, but here, the crazy storms and weather leave you never knowing what's around the next corner. It's hilly, windy roads, there will be clear roads then the wind comes up and you have drifts for 1/8 mile or so, or even ice (black ice) and just popping it into 4HAuto is fantastic. And for my wife it's a necessity - she moved from a Grand Cherokee Limited that never ever lost footing no matter what, to a Wrangler - no way she could remember what or when to shift, and with her handicap, it's problematic anyway.
I had a 2020 and that constant shifting, the jerking and jumping around corners, the parking lot experience of front wheels binding and locking and so on, it was just a mess. My Chevy had an "automatic transfer case" and you never had to mess with it. It would just go.
I missed that in my 2020 and it was so important for where we live, I traded last year for a 2022 with Selec-Trac.
When I was shopping for a Wrangler for my wife - I ignored all Jeeps that had only the part time transfer case. Even today, you don't know what's around the next corner. And Saturday we were surprised to find the roads covered with ice - what the heck? Oh, freezing rain. Geesh, that was a surprise, nothing was forecast.
You go along on a decent road and make a curve or go over a hill and hit a long drift, you appreciate what these can do. Even with my arthritis, this makes it a ton easier. Put it in 4H auto and leave it until everything is cleared and the wind dies down. It knows what to do. It's a more relaxing drive.

You are young. You've done it once, you can do it again. You can even learn from the first time and do it better if you want.
