Sorry for a dumb question, but could I get a little help? I have watched about dozen videos, and read a lot ot threads on this and other Jeep forums, but I can't find the SGW module. I have had the steering panel out a few times, looked up with a mirror, got out my borescope an looked around, but still can't find it.

I have a 2024 JT Mojave, so the first thing I see looks like an amp behind the panel.

How far up is the SGW? Is it directly above the OBD or to one side?

JUST to the right of the OBD port, no need to remove the panel below the steering column.

There will be two cables plugged into it. It's about as far up as your fingers are long, depending on the size of your hands, I guess?!?

PS - NOT a dumb question - more than one Jeep person has been to the point of bleeding hands and total frustration trying to find - and unplug - these things.

Removing the panel will help you see better IF you don't have an inverter there.

Other than that, it won't gain you much.

Good point - all of our Jeeps have had that inverter (factory)

OK, I think I will give up for now. Thanks much for the photos and replies, but in my JT there is too much in the way.

I confirmed via the service manual that the SGW module is mounted to the back of the speaker enclosure. However, there is something in the way of reaching it.

And, removing the panel under the steering column does not help a lot . . .

It's just to the left in this picture. About 2 or so inches above the bar.

Thanks all! Found it. I was looking way too high. Never would have found it without your help. Think I will order an extension before I go any further!!!

(PS: one of the best tools i have purchased is a reasonable off-brand borescope. Use it all the time to track down RV rattles as well as find things like this)

Now, if you know someone with smaller hands and arms, it will be easier for them to do,

If you have grizzled big old bear paws like me, be prepared to recite your favorite swear words repeatedly.
A little alcohol and Band-Aids should be close at hand as well.

(use your imagination on the first item)

Too much of the first will result in a LOT of the second........
Yeah, best stick to the rubbing alcohol for disinfecting the almost certain scrapes some will encounter.

OK, thinking a shot of Woodfords is in order for just finding the stupid thing. Thanks again!

A long flat blade screwdriver and a dental pick are your friends here.

In addition to a stiff drink or two, band aids and a plethora of colorful metaphors. It also helps to be a contortionist. Opening the doors fully (pull the cable and the door retainer will help give you enough room to get in at the right angle)

Yes I use a long flat blade screwdriver (1/4") and use it to depress the connector lock clip. then just pull the connector out by grabbing the cable. HF has these long screwdrivers.
With the seat way back you can see both connectors and find the locking clip.

I used a long thin flat head to depress the little lock tab BUT before i did that I used a long zip tie to loop around the two cables so I could pull them easier from a lower point. Took literally 2 minutes
