I had a similar problem removing the connection plugs and installing the extension plugs. I found that using a pair of long needle nose plyers helped. My right hand is all scabbed over. I don't want to do that again, t was painful.

So, in moving my Tazer over from the '21 to the '25, I was able to (with great difficulty) unplug the cables from the SGW by using a long thin screwdriver to depress the tabs and gently tugging on the cables. But that doesn't help for plugging the extension cable back in with the inverter and that other other box in the way. I'm about ready to try and pull the speaker panel.
I still need to install my trailer brake controller up in that mess, but I want to get the SGW extension cable on before I make it even harder to get to the SGW.

That matches the experiences I wrote about when I put the extension cables and brake controller box in mine. I still have not decided where to put the knob - I'd like to keep the 12v outlet and don't want to have some funky little thing sitting right up next to another switch, so can't decide!
But it was a total PAIN to get to the SGW connectors on my 25 - totally different, far far worse, than my 22

How did you eventually get the connectors (either the oem or the ext cable) back into the SGW?

Taped to my fingertip in one case, taped to a long screwdriver on the other one, when lined up, just barely pushed them in until I heard the click.
If anything happens to this one and I have to replace it - those extensions are staying in there!

For me, I was done with having to install and uninstall that bypass cable every time the truck had to go in and when I got it back but I did get very good at it with using a long handle 90* pick tool I could just reach up with it, press in the connector tab and pull down.

But after a few of those, it just can’t be good for the connector. I opted for the pro diagnostic tool MUCAR CDE900 Pro and just paid the annual FCA full unlock license. Just plug it in the OBD port and go. No more fussing up underneath or pulling panels, no bloody and beat up hands, no worn out connectors.

That's why we use extension cables -and the 2025 is a whole different animal up there.

I can then use any "tool" I want - AlfaOBD, JSCAN, any scan tool and so on. My options aren't limited to any one thing or subscription. I love options.

For whatever reason my extension cable didn’t allow the tech’s Mopar diag tool to work, so mine had to come out.

WEIRD. Maybe they didn't extend every single wire??
Well, no matter, you are set already anyway.

I gave up on getting mine out. I envisioned pulling on the cables and one wire would come out of the plug or something. Just interested--looking at the FCA unlock site, it looks like you need to be a mechanic at a shop to get a license. Where did you get one?

That's two hours of my life I will never get back, and that's just today.

Problem one: The cables were made with the 2 plugs on the wrong side of each other. After a lot of time wasted trying to snake one around the other to get the proper plug in the proper socket, I ended up untaping a few inches and retaping it. It least I have the oem style harness tape so it still looks factory.

Problem 2: Could NOT get light up there to see both connections without also shining in my eyes. If there is ever a next time, I will have to try and remember whatever happened to my flex-shaft inspection light, or maybe try the lighted borescope since I know where that is.

Problem 3: Both plugs on the extension cable almost need to go into the SGW at the same time. Again, if there is ever a next time, I will re-wrap the cable again, only this time separate those two plugs/wires the last few inches so it's easier to work one plug at a time in.

Problem 4: I should have gone right for the extra long reach double jointed pliers right from the start.

If you get the “THINKCAR - Mucar CDE900 pro”, FCA license can be bought right from the diagnostic tool itself with THINKCAR. Thinkcar has an agreement with FCA to sell this license though them, in fact THINKCAR advertises “you do not need an account with FCA, through the FCA site” and Thinkcar will gladly take your money and give you the annual license. The product diagnostic tools are good, especially the Mucar CDE 900 pro and higher that is Android. Apple software does not work with it.

I had the dongle that’s blue toothed to the phone and that’s very limited compared to the pro tools.

The only downside to the entire Thinkcar line up (which includes all their pro tools) is customer care is through text and you’re dealing with China staff and engineers.

What others have already said,

Got the SGW connections removed to hook up the SGW extension cable by using a long screwdriver to press in the latch at the rear of each plug and I pulled down the front lip of each using the hook pick. Real easy. Getting the extension plugged in afterwards wasn't so easy, but the long screwdriver helped with getting them pushed into their receptacles.
