Simple stupid question, how do you guys find trails off of the beaten path? I’m not interested in anything crazy but would enjoy finding some mild fire road type gravel roads to just get the hell out of town sometimes. Short of starting to drive random roads I’m not sure how to find interesting roads like this that are open to the public.

Facebook groups was good suggestion, local Jeep clubs.
States out west have national forest roads, doesn’t look like Kansas does much. This is a very poorly organized area of information. Depending on state, there may be more national forest, county, BLM roads.

Apps can help too.
Gaia is extensive mapping service but has a big learning curve, have to search different maps and learn your own way.
OnX is supposed to be easier to use, haven’t used it at all but just looking there shows some different places.

Thanks everybody, appreciate the feedback thus far. I don’t do Facebook but will look into the other suggestions. I share time between Wichita and the DFW area, and am painfully aware how little is in the Wichita area.:)
