I have a little over 1000 miles on a Gladiator Rubicon EcoDiesel. It may blow up on me tomorrow but the past 1000 miles have been great. The performance and cool factor blow the doors off the gasser.

It may blow up tomorrow, or it may give you 10 years of problem free enjoyment. Some of theses guys on the forum with the sky is falling syndrome because someone had a problem never ceases to amaze me. Some attack the diesel adopters because of jealousy which becomes obvious in their hostility in their posts, and others are just nervous people I guess. Life is too short, have fun and get what you want. If it doesn’t pan out then get something else.

A great thing about Jeeps. A Texan and an Angry New Yorker can find something to agree upon. (And by the way, I do like New York, just in small doses.)

New York is a horrible, communist state. I no longer live there, but am now in Ohio because of my job. But after 30 years of living in NY you acquire an accent and an attitude which I brought to Ohio. Hence the people at work coined me the Angry New Yorker because I sound angry all the time even though I am not. Ohio is not as bad as NY, but Texas is way, way better than either. I’d much prefer to live in Texas.

I was born and raised in upstate New York but live in and love TX now. No way I could move back there.

No, I don't have diesel envy but thanks for the chuckle, lol.

Not saying you do, but there are those who do and become hostile. I have had a couple 4Runner TRD Pros and when those first came out the hatred that came out from those who did not have them or could not get them was unbelievable. Same thing happens on here and all other forums.

Woooo! I get to go back to the dealer tomorrow for yet another one. This new EcoDiesel has a leak too!

Going to be interesting to see how long the wait is for parts THIS time now that we're in a screwed supply chain world.

Went to the dealership yesterday. Talked to the service writer. He said "we've done several" and agreed it's probably the timing cover again. He's going to try and set it up to where Jeep will cover the cost of a rental, but there are 4 or 5 people on the list ahead of me so all their loaner cars are unavailable right now. As soon as I can get a loaner they'll call and I'll take the truck in for the repair.

Hopefully they'll do as good of a job on this one as they did on my Ram. The Ram never leaked again afterward.

That was November 5. This is December 13 and I'm FINALLY getting to drop the truck off at the dealership to get this resolved today.

Now, here's hoping they don't have my truck for a month!

Side note: they put me in a 2019 JLU with the 2.0T eTorque engine as a loaner. First experience with these, so I'll shoot a video with it. :) But, this thing will FLY. I have to take back everything I've ever said about this powertrain. It's better than I expected. I reset the MPG display also when I left the dealership. Drove it for a while, went home 30 minutes away, then drove it to work 35 minutes away this morning....so driving between three different cities...showing 27 MPG on the dash. Can't wait to see where that ends up, but as of right now it surpasses my EcoDiesel when it was stock.

Mine went back a week later after the oil cooler seal was replaced and timing chain cover reseal. It was still leaking oil, they ordered me a new oil cooler thinking its warpped. They also broke my fuel injector during the first repair. Who knows how long it will be to get the parts..

I rented a JKU 2.0 with etorqure back in 2019 in MN and it was awesome, doing 65-70 on the hwy I got mid to high 30s MPG and lots of power.

12-15-21: Got a call today. They said they put dye in it, but still don't see the dye. Going to drive it some more and see if the dye shows up. I don't think it should take long because as you can see in my photo above, it's leaking bad enough to drip off the pan bolt heads. Actually, it looked worse than that by the time I dropped the truck off.

Anyway, they also said this will "likely end up being weeks to complete" due to the fact that they have two diesel technicians, and those guys are both knees deep in diesel repairs right now. Additionally, "Chrysler only allows 5 days of rental coverage" and I need to call them personally to plead with them for more time. @JeepCares is there any way you can assist with this?

If I cannot get a free loaner while the truck is being repaired, I'm strongly considering moving on to another brand. 4 of our last 5 new FCA products have spent significant time in the shop now, and it's getting a little ridiculous.

I've said this before ; dealer service has likely done more damage to a brand/model than the OE vendor, in my experience both on and off the bay floor.
