Did OP mention if He had his hands on the one with the slotted section across the pan ?
The "OP" that started this thread has a stock pan an it is doable to remove/reinstall it without touching the exhaust on a 3.6L.

Most recent post by others that have a PPE pan is a different story.

I did loosen the exhaust bolts and opened the gap. I have the new design with the shaved fins. Still don't have it bolted up. Getting more ZF fluid , 7 liters for 116$. It's made in Germany so should be good. I ordered enough for a drain and refill.

OK, I made some "guide bolts " and got it up in place perfectly but never did hear the filter pop into place. It is in the pan correctly and not going to move. I tried several times to press the pan into place to hear or feel the filter snap into place but never did. The pan bolted into place perfectly, just no pop. I don't feel good about that so I will call PPE tomorrow before I add the fluid.

Ya, I’d want to hear it snap in place too. Do the instructions on filter placement to the pan allow the filter to have a slight wiggle?

Mopar’s instructions when fastening the two 10mm nuts is to tighten nuts till contact, then back off 1/2 turn. This allows the filter to self adjust into place when pan is pushed up. You lubricated the O-ring too right?

Looking at the reliefs around the valve body, would think there would be some crunch interference if it went anywhere but into the hole with the pan bolted up. Did you make sure the o-ring was on the outlet tube?

There is an O ring but it's firm. I am going to drop the pan and have a look while it's still easy.

That PPE pan install is kicking my butt. It's heavy and the exhaust is in the way. Trying to get it into place , watch that gasket, get a bolt, drop the bolt, arms get tired, find another bolt, shift the pan into place, I am just getting too old to do this alone and none of my worthless friends can even pass me a wrench. I don't ever plan on dropping that pan again.
If I was nearby, I´d help you out then have you help me. I am leaning back toward getting one of these just for the fact it has a drain plug.

^^^^ Have a drain plug welded into the factory trans pan. It's as thick as a diff cover and much easier to get out. But,,, the PPE in raw does look cool. If you need something to do, go for it. It will raise the value of your jeep,,, LOL

This is an informative and interesting thread, I have read numerous on this subject as I was gun-shy at first thinking about doing this myself but I dont think its to bad of a job.I am at 42K, minor off road use on the beaches in NW FL. Plan on ordering the fluids to do 3 pan drops this year at 500 mile intervals once I hit 50K using MOPAR fluids and will install a PPE pan during first change. Luckily I work on an AF base that has a great service area with multiple bays and lifts. I will be out of warranty by the end of the year but not to concerned.
