With the new bumper, my old flag mount that clamped to the tow hook on the bumper wouldn't work anymore. Stopped in at the off-road park I'd gotten my safety flag and mount at to see if they had any suggestions (there's a little shop that sells this stuff right there.)

Fellow working the shop sold me a mount that will clamp to the bar on the bumper that protects the winch. So my question now is, which way should I have the mount "point?" Should the part the flag goes in be on the hood side, or should it face to the front (and be a hazard to walking too close to the front of the Jeep and maybe causing garage door problems,) or does it not really matter and it's a personal preference thing?

Here's the mount, with the flag holder bolted in:

I can't see any real reason to mount in any specific way. Do whatever you want with it.

How much flex is there with the pole?
I think it would look better with the flag closer to the grill, but not if it makes contact with the grill or hood when driving.

Being the typical fiberglass pole, I suspect it's going to have enough flex to hit the hood no matter how it gets mounted.

So my plan is going to be to, when I'm using it, putting a pool noodle on it with some zip ties to keep the noodle in place, to protect the hood (I saw someone with a similar setup at the ORV park when I bought the bracket)

With that being the case, I would mount it so the flange mount is low and closer to the grill.
I think that would give a cleaner look.
