I've used the winch at work when someone got stuck in a freshly graded potion of the site. We used the winch on the wife's JLUR on the middle of the I-10 freeway after a tundra towing a large rv trailer flopped on its side blocking both lanes. Righted the Toyota and trailer and got the freeway cleared before the 1st highway patrol was on scene. Neither of those situations had anything to do with wheeling and the winch would have been at home. The real world means being prepared for the just in case. I doubt the 60lbs is saving any fuel on a 5k+ pound brick so it's rather have it and not need it than the other way. To each their own. This would be the logical conclusion for a dedicated rig or rock crawler with a high percentage probability of needing to use a winch and time was a factor. but I am projecting based on his response that he is using his rig with a much lower percentage of probability of using the winch and/or time is not a factor.
I’m guessing that is the base where the disconnect in responses comes from. the rest is just “normal internet stuff”
cheers![]()
