I like that mine is flat and readable when on the road, but equally functional off road. It gives if hit without damaging the mount, it protects my fairlead and expensive Factor55 flat link, and it flips up without tools when I need the winch, or just want 1 more inch of approach angle, usually when going down a steep 30+degree decline where the bumper might drag at the bottom.
I want a flip-up mount......... yes, in part to cover the very end of the winch rope and the link.

Cascadia isn’t the cheapest I’m sure, but I’ve yet to see a better one. Most require removal in some way or another, or loosening then tightening to get it out of the way. This one just has strong resistance at the hinge.

I figured tying a rock to the bottom of the plate would hold it down...........
I had thought of making one and using nylon washers as sort of a "brake" on the pivot bolts to hold it where-ever it was put but decided that was too much work.

I’m sure I “could” make one, but it would be way heavier without a water jet. Even if I had those crazy tools, I’d spend more time than it’s worth.

I would check your state laws for placement with the Warn style since the plate is slanted back, but I've been running one this way on my '05 Wrangler in Montana snow & ice + sanded roads without debris/damage issue. No wear & tear or build up of ice. Brush hasn't been an issue either because you still are higher than your sensitive bits that higher brush will take out first. I have the pinstripes on every other part of my vehicles to prove that use case. Backing down off of rocks is more likely, and maybe more so on the JT(?) chin. Haven't put the JT plate through the wringer yet, except for mud/snow but I think the door handles of the JT draw all the mud anyways. ;)

I've been in too many winching situations that most of the flip ups would've been in the way. Mostly in snow + mountain roads. Nicer would be if they flipped up to a near vertical position. I really like @juareze16 's side mount location off of the shackle mount.

If you don't mind a little redneck solution, I used electrical wire to hold my F150's front plate on for 10 years and 130K miles. It was supposed to be a temporary solution, but that wire never corroded and held like a champ.

This is how high the one from Cascadia designs flips up. It’s never been in the way of winching. Old picture, as lots of other things on my rig have changed since, but this hasn’t

Amazingly enough here in the NYSSR, they give you two plates but I haven't run a front plate in almost 6 years and have never been bothered by law enforcement.....

Definitely the best one on the market. It's all aluminum as well which is a plus.

Agreed. After last season I took 10 minutes to remove the plate holder, flatten it with a vice from any minor wheeling bends, then back on. If after 5 years it’s too bent, one small replacement part.

Thanks all. I ordered the Warn winch plate today for the factory bumper so will see how that looks when I get it. I had a cover over my winch in NY that held the plate and it was a PITA during the winter with ice and snow froze all over it. In the south I assume that wont be an issue but will peak at those others also. Good stuff.

I suspect that with NO plate on front they may assume you are from another state that doesn't issue or require them. But if there's one there and it's obviously from your state - and doesn't meet the display requirements then there's a slight possibility they'd take notice.
I ran my F250 for 5 or 6 years with no front plate after I busted the plastic factory bracket. It was one of those "I'm going to fix it next weekend" and tossed the plate behind the seat. I found it still there when I cleaned the truck to trade it in years later. (most of my projects are "I'll get to it one of these days")

So for guys required to run a front plate what have you done ? I currently have the plastic bumper and plate is in center. The steel bumper appears to not have a location for plate and plan to add a winch when i install.
The winch mounting kit I used had a plate that sits just behind the fair lead that allows the license plate to be attached via 2 bolts. Sorry for the blurry pic.
