Fusing a winch

My setup was pos cable from winch to 500amp isolator and then pos cable to battery. The negative from the winch goes to the battery. The isolator is controlled by an Auxbeam switch. I added a 450amp fuse in between the winch and isolator. Total waste and/or should the fuse be between the battery and isolator? I'm going to be purchasing an extended warranty and there is a winch premium. Not sure what it's all about but I'm guessing it has something to do how the winch is wired.
