So which solenoid is a suitable choice? I see the Warn 72631 is used with the VR10000 but I don’t see a black solenoid in any of the pics in this thread.
The silver Warn solenoid I see is for smaller winches.
I use the warn solenoid on my Apex 12000 and it's fine. Remember DUTY cycles. Winches have duty cycles, but too many hold that button down until the rig is freed up. That's what kills things.
Of course, with the line out, I'm not really putting that much load on that winch, so that matters, too. A bigger winch typically uses the max amperage at max load. If you use a 12,000 and are only pulling 8,000 on the line, it's not going to max it out. And you don't hold the button on the winch for 2 full solid minutes unless you don't like the winch and want a reason to replace it or your batteries or alternator.

I prefer a solenoid to not be the weak link. The weak link will be my trigger finger. In all likelihood I’ll tension load the cable and probably never use it (if I don’t make a bad enough mistake).

Mine is here mainly for "I might need that someday", and as it has turned out, I have, multiple times! But not to rescue me - to rescue others and to other things (loading dead cars onto trailers, pulling a big generator onto a concrete slab off a trailer, pulling a guy out of a snowy ditch, things like that).
If I never use it for ME, that's fine. If I make just one other person happy, save them from snowy/icy trouble, or keep them safe, then it's been money well spent.

Now I just need to hire help to put it all back onto the NEW truck. It's still sitting on the floor from where Jerry and I removed it last spring......

If I were closer I’d happily come do it.

I know - it's mostly assistance needed, and I'm now wondering if I'd be better off with the expensive MOPAR winch "plate". Unsure about the height the bulldog gave as with the other bumper it had the winch just a bit low for the rope to go through nicely.
If they do go with the DBS, and get that scheduled, I likely won't be doing much of anything part of this fall.

I’d buy warn before mopar. Probably cheaper and better. But I haven’t checked price. Wish I could come help.

I have a friend in Denver that can’t do the work himself anymore. I told him anything he wants done he can just direct me. Still his way. I can just be the hands.
