Since I’m able to toggle between power levels I’ve mostly kept mine on stock or tow mode, when I’m light and want to have a little fun I’ll put it on street mode and it’s a massive improvement on power but not like Im going to be super hard on it with the spikes in EGT. I’ve never had any issues other than that with EOC but looking forward to comparing them.
I'm currently on EOC and am really looking forward to a direct comparison. I've echanged a couple email with GDE since NCJL started this thread and really like what he's told me. His tuning seems much safer for the those of us looking for longevity

Yeah the GDE engine brake is pretty cool. I don't think I've ever had it engage without manually downshifting, which is the idea I think. It's pretty much an invisible feature in normal daily driving.

You fill out a form, it's honor system. They can't tell how many miles you have.
How is the mileage tracked? Just in the BCM? No communication between BCM and ECM?

Just info.
I did not send a ECM to EOC. I just ordered a new one from them. Dealt with the dash security light.
I sent my original ECM to GDE. I removed it from the Jeep 3 plus years ago with about 50k. Let GDE know, thinking it mattered. GDE confirmed they only wanted original. Something about EOC did something they didn’t like.

The only thing to reset after the switch was the oil life reading, was at 0% and pissed. Had to stop to reset it. Nothing else in the instrument cluster changed/reset.

GDE did confirm that the Off-Road Plus was in the BCM, not affected by the tune.

I've always been under the impression it's only in the BCM, although some others have claimed it's also in the ECM but I've never seen proof.

Either way, GDE told me directly they can't see the mileage on the ECM.

I’d call that confirmed.
Thanks

No. They unlocked, return with flash tool. You do the rest. ECM and TCM.
Think all Gen lll ED are the same.

Might depend, though. Mine has their bench tune on it from before they started emailing the engine tunes. And they're going to put the new tune on it via the bench as well.

So if you already had it tuned previously via bench you may be stuck with that process. I didn't ask any more questions beyond that.

Tuners will lock the ecu once they have put tune into it. Because they don't want some other tuner looking to see what they have done and cloning their tune. Also that no one else can get in the ecu and mess with the tune. EOC did a tune and locked it. GDE can't get in the ecu because of the lock. And the same for EOC trying to get in a GDE tuned ecu. If they can get in. It may not be pretty.

I was actually able to rip and clone a GDE tuned ECM and had EOC overwrite it with their tune without issue, but I wasn't able to rip the EOC tune.

Things have changed some now so maybe GDE is locking their tunes differently but that was my experience.

The tune in my Nismo is locked by the tuner. In the import world. Everyone lockers their tunes.

New trip report. This was a trip that would cause a dash light engine code. Every-time over the last 3 years or so. My belief (I’m convinced), due to heat soak. Long periods of time averaging below 15mph in off-road conditions. Mostly 2H/4H with some 4low. Nothing extreme.

No engines codes popped up!!!! The difference in engine oil temps has convinced me this scenario is fixed.

Overall engine oil temps are 15-20 degrees less. I see a lot of 200 plus/minus 5 degrees. I did not turn on the engine oil cooler fan while off road. Actually, I never turned back on after hitting the dirt. Max oil temp was 230. This was a momentary spike. Max oil temp average was 225.
The wife was in charge of EGT temps. Below a 1000 95% of the drive. The grades would raise to 1300 with some momentary spikes above. One spike in the 1400’s.
