Does anyone know what the thread are for the holes in the bed? I thought they might be M6 x 35 but the screws won't start due to the Rhino lining in the threads. I want to re-tap them to the original size and tpi.

Those are for the trail rails. They are an m6x1 thread

I do not have a few metric taps but not an M6x1 (I thought the "x1" would refer to threads per inch / tpi) I would think the correct tap should be available locally. Thanks for the quick response!

Get a flat head screw driver and scrape as much as you can out. Then soak the bolts in oil and slowly work them in and out. You have to really press them to get started but they should start. Working the bolt in and out will clean the threads.

Retapping you run the risk of messing the threads up

Yup. For the trail rails in putting in a Terraflex Uinta bedrail system, the holes were M6x1.0. Some had a TON of crap in em. Definitely had to work the tap in and out a few times to clear it. Also, thread cutting oil (or really any oil) was helpful cleaning them out.

After posting my question I found other similar posts. I appreciate the responses to this post, the Gladiator Forum, and the community! Great help!

I found that the screws in the tailgate have flat sides at the first 3 or 4 threads and they are the same thread as the holes along the sides of the bed. The flat ends of the screws served as excellent thread starters/cleaners. I used a little WD-40 and the tailgate screws to clean out the Rhino-lining.

Perhaps my solution to cleaning the threads might help others.

Imperial, SAE, or whatever we call our inch based hardware here, the bolt thread pitch is measured in threads per inch (TPI). Metric bolt thread pitch is the distance in millimeters between threads. For imperial hardware a higher thread pitch count means the bolt has a finer thread. For metric bolts, a higher thread pitch number means the bolt has a courser thread.
