Has anyone had issues with their gas gauge jumping around? So today was the 2nd time I noticed this.

last week, I started my Gladiator and drove down the road. my gas light comes on and it’s reading on the red empty. I’m like that’s weird I thought I had over a 1/4 of a tank. I go about 5 miles to nearest gas station and as I am pulling in the gauge resets to 1/4 of a tank. It only needed 16 gallons to fill up.

I knew I had parked on a slope in my driveway but thought it was weird that it took so long for the gauge to read correctly.

just now I was parked completely level. I’m idling at the job site on the phone and the low fuel light chimes on.

I drive about a mile and a half. Pulling into a station it jumps to over an 1/8th of a tank and needs 17.4 gal to fill up.

Do you have Uconnect notice alert you on your phone that your gas level is low? I’m not having issues with my gauge but if I run my tank down to 1/8 tank, Uconnect will tell me.

Fuel Pump Module that is integral to the fuel pump assembly sends the fuel level signal to the BCM that then puts the signal on the can bus to drive the instrument cluster fuel gauge.

Odds are you either have a wiring issue between the fuel pump module and the BCM, or an issue with the float sensor inside the fuel pump.

If I’m on slope when I park, it takes a long time for the fuel gauge to adjust.
I can never seem to get the tank full either. Keeps shutting off early at the pump and then gauge is never full, even when air try to squeeze every drop in I can. This is the first gauge I’ve ever had issues like this with.
My 92 YJ would hold full forever, then suck down fast and my 2022 Liberty would suck down quickly then hold on near the end.

My issue is a tad bit different. I try to keep my gas tank full. I drove about 30 miles today and noticed that after I filled the Jeep, it did not register completely full. Maybe a little less than full. The last time I filled it up, the gauge showed full and the needle went all the way up. I just now after running another 30+ miles gassed it up as it was showing down about an 1/8 of a tank. Filled it completely again. Made double sure it was completely full. It still shows down just a bit from full. Have about 580 miles on it and this just started. Anyone that has had this happen, find a fix? It is minor, however I would like the gauge to be as accurate as it was before. Pic of a full tank below. The pic is not that good, but you can see the needle sure is not at the full mark anymore.
Thanks!
