The 5.7 Hemi is exactly what I would want.
Yeah I'd be happy with that too. Once I get it paid off it's getting an LS swap

Having seen EV pickup trucks reviews in which they failed to complete a course within their advertised ranges while towing travel trailers.. The course was a standard highway. I can only imagine being stranded some where off road waiting for the solar panels to recharge my batteries. Of course if I were to bring a generator ... I have little confidence that the logistics of a rapid transformation of our society to an all electric transportation society can take place within the predicted time. Our ability to travel where ever we wish will be drastically reduced, until the problems are solved some time in "the near future". Is SAVING the planet or at best maintaining the environment a real obtainable objective? Last time I checked the planet change the climate at will despite our actions. Back in the '50's the call to stop fossil fuels was called global cooling. Be careful of the giant horse inside our gates.

A rule of thumb is developing re: EV's and towing:
1kwh per 1 mile travelled towing.
(I have yet to see any tests done in Really cold conditions also)

Not apples to apples but I have seen Tesla's in Canadian winters loose 30% range out the gate just to battery heating

So if it is below a certain temp outside, even if the EV isn't being driven does it use energy to keep the batteries warm/ready?
Then it uses juice to keep them warm while driving of course, plus you running the heater, heated seat + steering wheel inside. It adds up.

Not a EV expert but going off of what I noticed visiting a work colleague in Canada last winter that had a Tesla Model S. From what I gather, it has a "Precondition" mode where by the app, the driver can set a preset departure time and the vehicle will set a time before hand to get the battery pack up to temp.

If not already plugged in charging, it will use that battery pack itself. I know it sounds counterproductive of a cold battery being used to warm itself but a self slow warm up is better than the shock load of trying to drive it before the warm up.

In a lot ways tech wise, EV's are self licking ice cream cones.

Well that and max capacity of any given battery goes up in warm weather, and down in cold. The standard rating temperature for batteries is 77 degrees Fahrenheit. At 0 Fahrenheit, a battery has lost 60% of its rated max capacity due to being cold. So it makes sense to spend some power to gain some energy overall back in the battery, but you then lose charge to the heaters. And then like you said, the fear of thermal runaway from a hard forced warmup via use in that very cold battery over a few years causing a fire without warming it up is real. Electric cars will always work better in hot climates, and less optimally in cold ones.
