LOL...you forgot Tundra towing....10 mpg all day with 5.7. Yeah good times ?
Still love my Tundra. I am a sucker for a gas sucker hahahha.
Well I can't reply on Tundra mileage, I've never owned or drove one. I don't think that I've actually even rode in one. If it doesn't have straight axles I don't want it. I like less parts to wear out. :like: ?

This all day long. 2-3 weeks back I was on the hunt for another ecodiesel Jeep (quickly found out that there was an all stop to new inventory diesel sales :( ). Anyways- every salesman had the same schpeel- interest rates and over paid on trade ins are killing them now…. Weird.
This video talks about how stupid Stellantis has gotten with pricing. Over the last 5 years, they have increased MSRP pricing by 48% when inflation has averaged 21% over the same time.

The new business model trick seems to be high MSRP with occasional drastic rebates to move vehicles.

y wife has a Subaru Forester, it is awesome on gas, awesome in the snow, carries paddle boards and bikes just fine. My jeep is an old Willy's. I really wanted a diesel Gladiator to tow our camper but after hearing about the over heating and limping issues I changed my mind. Wife initially wanted a Wrangler, as much as I love Jeeps I told her she would hate the gas mileage and the ride. She use to get car sick in my old YJ. Still love Jeeps, just not as daily drivers.

I'm not sure what you're planning to tow but I'm towing a bit with my JT Rubicon deezel on 37" tires this summer. Not exactly the "Max Tow" and limited by the lift tires. My heavy utility trailer with my 3700-3900 lb Buick Skylark on it is a load. I've got to be close to 6k trailer/car weight.

The truck can handle the load better than expected (Equalizer weight distributing hitch) and really does pretty well until I go to climb a hill. I live at 4300' and climb passes at about 8k. The 3.0L just can't hack the hills so I've found some other routes or tow with my wife's Navigator if I have to take an 8k pass. It's been pretty warm this summer and I've had zero issues with overheating even with a winch on top of the bumper rather than in it.

With experience running this exact road with other trucks/loads, the issue with the hills is the grade and the length of the pull. I'd assume the JT engine is derating itself as the oil temperatures hit about 250* or so? I've never watched oil temps in my other trucks (Ford 7.3L deezels, 5.9 Cummins, Ford V10, GM 8.1L) so I'm not sure if those hit that temp or not? I'd assume those hills create heat in all engines. I thought the 442 ft lbs of torque would pull the hill pretty well? I have hit some 255-260* temps while pulling that hill. I haven't noticed the truck derating but I have backed off trying to keep the temps down. I haven't looked at where the truck derates.

Frankly it does ok, but I'm down to about 52-54 mph as I summit. For comparison, I had an early '99 7.3L that was totally stock. It towed a similar load (YJ on a trailer) over the same summit at 60-62 mph. Cummins if stock was about the same. V10/4.10 gears/5R110 trans is a pulling dawg and might drop down to 65-68 from 70 on the same hill.

My judgement in my location with my load, the JT does "ok" to tow. For the hills, I'll swap rigs with my wife and use her Navigator and it's 3.5L EcoBoost. (now there's an interesting comparison---3.5L EcoBoost/6 speed trans vs a 3.0L EcoDiesel/8 speed trans). Your experience may vary.

If you're towing a 16'/3500 lb camper, I bet the Gladiator will be pretty decent. 20'/4500 lb camper, I bet you're pushing the 3.0L pretty hard especially on hills/mountains. I think the camp trailer/enclosed trailer aerodynamics factor into towing weight more than most of us know? You're towing a sail and that takes power/fuel. A car on a flatbed has an aero affect but less of one than a flying box going down the highway.

I'd LOVE to see the JT with a factory installed 5.7L Hemi in "Tradesman" trim (XLT to us F*rd folks). I never will see that but it'd be what I'd want the truck to be. That said, I'm not sure the HEMI would get the towing fuel mpg the EcoDiesel gets. I'm knocking down 14-15 mpg TOWING with the EcoDiesel. The Navigator 2015 rivals that at 12-14 towing.

*I've never towed in the Appalachian mountains and am not sure how those hills are configured. I have towed all over the west with our various camp trailers, two hauler flatbeds (bumper and gooseneck)and HD pickups outlined above.

At least the used market has softened a bit, though after my first factory order I may not be able to buy a Jeep any other way. ?

It doesn't matter matter who owns jeeps or what their ideology is. Jeeps are not good for the environment, even if it can go 50 miles without gasoline. There are much better earth friendly vehicles out there, for significantly less money. Jeeps are not practical for most US drivers but US drivers for half a century have said "fuck practicality" and that is why it sells today, because even if you are a hypocrite owner that believes fossil fuels are destroying the planet, you still want what you want.

You should at least think about suburu, which has excellent awd systems and gets better gas mileage. If you really cared about the environment you wouldn't own a wrangler or gladiator in my opinion.
Maybe get a bicycle and a little red book

Every midsize except the Tacoma and Ridgeline are down. The ranger is actually the worst performer right now so it's not just a gladiator thing.
(not directed at you) If you aren’t going to go off road at all, I would actually highly recommend the Ridgeline. Storage is fantastic, it has a functional backseat ?, it has a sunroof, standard bed is longer than some midsize trucks and it’s a very smooth ride. I think honda is going to throw in that 10 speed tranny on the new gen models too. Yes, it’s not the prettiest truck, but one of the better street trucks out there.

If Jeep and Ram are screwed what are we saying about Ford?? Went and checked out a 350- $130k ?? and they would happily throw an 8 year mortgage on it. ????

Stellantis just came out with "employee pricing" on the Gladiator Today. 5% under invoice.

Travis at Tri-City mentioned in another thread the fine print on the Employee pricing is that it is not stackable with any rebates with maybe the exception of the Military rebate. It is either one or the other.

Yeah but when you live where almost all dealers are MSRP only, no exceptions, then that discount is a huge huge deal. Not everyone has the luxury of traveling across the country to buy a vehicle. It's going to make a big difference to a lot of people.
And many of these discount dealers refused to even talk trade, so that also limits things for some people.
Wish I could have gotten that good a deal a year ago.

Was the F350 marked up?

You can get an F350 Platinum for about $100k MSRP.

Looks like this is inline with their plan of huge increases and then offer periodic incentives to drive sales. Unfortunately people are still overpaying even after these discounts are applied. What's worse is that people are overextending themselves trying to afford these vehicles. I'm old school and say if you aren't able to pay cash then you can't afford it. But I'm sensing a wave of repo's coming.

My Gladiator Mojave just got totaled and now I am in the market for a new ‘truck’. I am seriously considering a Ridgeline Black Edition.
I didn’t do much offroading in my Jeep anyways because of time, low interest from significant other, etc.

The infotainment system sucks in the Ridgeline. I also don’t get that ‘Oooooooh’ feeling when I look at one like I did when I go to the garage to get in my Mojave. But, the flat floor under the seats of the Ridgeline is awesome because I am literally the grocery getter in the family. At my age (58), it seems more about practical use and safety features than anything else. And the Ridgeline has a 5 star safety rating that appeals to this old man.

Wait for the new model to come out with the new trans. Jeep regret is a thing though - every time you pass one, you will miss not being in one! But, again the Ridgeline is fantastic. I love the bed storage, it's like a giant cooler.
