I agree, if you need lockers you’re probably past what the average person is willing to tackle. And if you’re in that scenario with a stock Rubi, you’re probably getting stuck anyway
Meh, I dont know about that.

Lockers are less about "getting unstuck" and more about getting up obstacles. If you are trying to use a locker to get unstuck, then its probably too late and you are just spinning tires and praying. Climbing up loose rocks/dirt while articulating though, thats where the locker really shines and where open diffs and BLD are only so useful as they just cant get that power to the on the grounded tire as effectively.

There are a few obstacles here where I can literally put it in 4lo lock up, step out of the truck and it will idle its way up with no issues, but the wife's open diff jeep on 37's with 3" lift in lo just spins and spins and spins as the BLD tries in vain to send power to each grabbing tire as they articulate around. Even the mojave and taco with rear lockers we wheeled with had trouble as at one point the driver front tire is really the only one with good traction and it turns in to a lurch fest as they try to bump it that extra foot to get passed that spot.

I have also learned that my built JK is geared to low for 4L 1st and 2nd to be useful in mud even with MTs. I now enter in 3rd normally.

it sounds like is agreed on then that the Mojave is the bestest trim in a Gladiator. Cool. ?

Since this thread turned a little bit.

My '76 Chevy 4x4 had LSD's front and rear.
My '90 Nissan HardBody had Detroit locker rear and LSD front.
My '99 Dodge 1500 had ARB air locker front and rear.
My '98 Power Wagon had Lockers.
My '22 Rubi has lockers.

I wouldn't buy a truck without lockers.

when they introduce the Mojave , i immediately thought it will be a desert racer... so i was exited to imagine the mojave with a 6.2 supercharged, 2 inches lift , 37's on beadlock wheels and a 3.5 inches fox premium shocks. something to races TRX and Raptor ... i would be epic

I disagree. Put a winch on a Mojave and you might as well have bought a Rubicon because you defeated the purpose of what the Mojave was built for.

Trade offs work both ways to the detriment of either. Each Gladiator model has it's purpose and luckily the flexibility to suit each owners tastes as they see fit.

Among the Mojave owners or those who like to ensure others their choice was not only the best, but the only one. Some like to hold their heads higher by cutting others down instead.

Truth! I have the Mojave with disconnects and a winch…so far. Plan to wear out the stock tires (if mod fever doesn’t get them first), add the AEV lift, 37’s (probably Maxxis Razr AT), then regear (probably 5.13) and add a front OX locker. But shhhhh…don’t tell my wife! ?. I bought the Mojave for the ride quality over the Rubi and it’s general wheeling ability. My wife and I like the jamborees and off road parks. I hunt a bunch, too. It’s my 4th Jeep, but my last one, an 85 Scrambler, was sold 19 years ago. I’m thrilled with the Mojave!

I'm not a club-level wheeler, but even I have cause to use the rear locker. I'd say I flip it on... 2x a year? Certainly not a lot. Front locker? I turned it on in snow for fun but I've never really needed it.

Now, the lower gearing? Yes. That's what the Rubicon is about, not the front locker. I'm very pleased to have that every time I use 4Lo on extremely steep stuff here in CO.

My 17 year old niece wanted to drive it, which I reluctantly allowed. She's very cautious, and we just drove in town. Anyway, she asked if "it was fast?!?" I think she saw the Rubicon (fake) hood vents and got wild ideas. I told her, sure, it can go fast, but its expensive because it can go slow.

Guess it wasn't stated correctly and absolutely not clearly that my second sentence was more for the OP.
Some here like to insist their choice of engine or their choice of trim level is superior or the only real choice. (and they keep bringing it up)

Ok understand, thank you for clearing that up, I truly didn’t mean to offended.

Mojave suspension

Rubicon lockers and swaybar disconnect

Factory optioned gears to 5.13

3 speed transfer case... 4-hi, 4-lo 2.7:1, 4 ultra lo 8:1
5.13's Never, at most they'd last maybe 4 years.. That tiny piñon and the speed she's spinning I can't believe people even try to put these in!
