Speaking of Amish, we are starting a new sect — Jeeperism.
Elff has agreed to be our leader. No confessions and no taxes. If the Amish don’t have to pay taxes because they don’t believe in them, then neither do we. And…….we can discuss it in the off topic area because it is religion not politics. They can’t sensor religion.

Show me any overland, with 3k spent any way you’d like. Meet me at the trail of your choosing. I’m not blowing smoke. If it’s close enough to me to be feasible, I’ll be there. Let’s see which vehicle gets through the trail more easily. It should be a trail with a 6 or higher rating. I welcome all challengers.

Thanks to all who responded in good humor, which was exactly the spirit of the entire post. There was even a laughing emoji.
Good stuff ?

I don't respond to anyone who doesn't know how to setup an Avatar pic.
Bound to be the Max Tow crowd. A weird lot.
On the contrary Sir… the Max Tow crowd are probably the smartest and wisest enthusiast purchasers of the Gladiator.

Let’s think about this “Rubicon “ vs “Mojave” vs “THE MAX TOW! ?

Max Tow has the
-wide axles the rubicon has
-4:10 gears just as the rubicon
- bigger brakes than the standard sport, as does the rubicon.

only things that are missing;

- the 4:1 T-Case… I’m not rock crawling this pig and the 8 speed auto takes care of business pretty darn well without a 4:1 t-case
- lockers… ? my previous Rubicon JKU had constant issues with the lockers.

My JT sport, 8 speed auto, 37’s, Clayton Overland 3.5” lift and modern traction control… well it does moderate to difficult trails without issue. (If I would have an issue with traction, I’ll just pull the winch). I will eventually put some ARB lockers in the punkins’, but it works so well now I just haven’t needed them.

- and last but the not least, problematic Rubicon sway bar DCs. I am buying better aftermarket DCs as well… and for less $$.

I paid $20,000 less for my max tow in October 2020 than what I could purchase a Rubicon for at that time. Look at my jeep… I still haven’t paid the $20,000, I saved by not buying the Rubicon, to get it where it is today. ? and my JT is paid for.

So the Mojave… notice I did not mention it until now… well most of us don’t bomb the desert so we don’t need those Fox expensive bi-pass shocks that are too short once you add a lift… as most all of us do sooner than later! ? AND ONE LOCKER??? What’s up with that? I guess one advantage is you’ll only need to fix one locker all of the time.

every time I think of the Mojave I think of

Jeep Gladiator Gladiator vs Gladiator 1666750381574

the Mojave does have a nice hood…

well so, it comes down to what you want. If it was really based on what you need the Sport S Max Tow fits the bill as you are paying less money for it and all the things you take off of the Mojave and the Rubifon are just a waste of money anyway…. Then you build…

for those of us that are the truest of Jeep enthusiasts, we drive The Max Tow.

After adding my Tazer Mini I changed the startup to… oh such sacrilege!! To… the Rubicon’s dash start up. It even says “Rubicon”!! ?????‍♂

all of this IMOP of course, I mean at no offense. ?

I do a lot of custom stuff on my own jeeps... if I did not the rubicon makes good sense for a rock crawler, well even an overlanding truck because you want the lockers when you need lockers.

I bought a sport Max Tow with the aux. switches and zero other add ons. 38,000 cost. About 2 years into having it... I modified it. I have under 10,000 in after market into it (that I don't expect to increase its book value- I do it for fun, not an investment). I did all of the work myself.

What do I have?

4:88 gears, 3.5 inch lift with fox shocks, 37 inch tires, steel bumpers, "tummy tuck skid plates that add 3/4 inch belly clearance with about 10 lbs more in weight, ARB air lockers that are not "nannied" by the computer rev limiter, Topper and roof rack, 35 spline chrome-molly rear axle shafts, RCV fronts 32 spline, 1350 front driveshaft, manual sway bar disconnect not "nannied" by computer, a tazer, 100 watt solar panel on front hood, stealth light bar, onboard air, rock hard sliders, Rancho steering box brace, and Method "beadgrip" tech rims. Many homemade parts cause its fun.

I still don't have the 4:1 transfer case, but crawl mode can make me just as slow -up or down hill with a push of a button. Most of the time the low range is low enough.

I don't have the coolest looking hood... or frame braces of the mojave. I do have the similar rear locker function where you are not limited by the computer.

No power locks, no power windows, no adaptive cruise, no front camera, no media screen worth mentioning, no factory gps, no led headlamps, no lane assist, no climate control. So, I know it is not apples to apples. It was bare.

But my upgrade costs have all been cash, and gradual- as I had means to do each stage.I had no lockers for two years. I think I am satisfied with my choice to go this route, but my son-in-law went out of the box with a fully loaded rubicon. I have freinds that did the same thing... we all do most of the same trails, even the rubicon that is mostly stock. Those include metal masher, hells revenge, posion spider, rusty nail, golden crack, elephant hill, etc... they all go to similar places without issue.

I bought an 07 Jk that came with a rear locker and the sway bar disconnect and the 32 spline axles with 4:10 gearing. It would be great if they did something like that in a lower cost trim....like the willy's trim or something. The black grill is cool- but to add a few trail functions to the sport would be a good seller!

Do you play hockey cause it sounds like you spend a lot of time driving a :

Seriously though, more power to you if you can do it. At this point in my life I have no wish to daily drive the equivalent of my 1992 honda civic in terms of creature comforts. If i was buying this purely as a truck i was trailering to the trailhead and then back home I could see it, but I put 15K a year on mine.
