Walmart tires, free labor, and parts from wish.com.Show me any overland, with 3k spent any way you’d like. Meet me at the trail of your choosing. I’m not blowing smoke. If it’s close enough to me to be feasible, I’ll be there. Let’s see which vehicle gets through the trail more easily. It should be a trail with a 6 or higher rating. I welcome all challengers.
2 low as wellMojave suspension
Rubicon lockers and swaybar disconnect
Factory optioned gears to 5.13
3 speed transfer case... 4-hi, 4-lo 2.7:1, 4 ultra lo 8:1
On the contrary Sir… the Max Tow crowd are probably the smartest and wisest enthusiast purchasers of the Gladiator.I don't respond to anyone who doesn't know how to setup an Avatar pic.
Bound to be the Max Tow crowd. A weird lot.
Do you play hockey cause it sounds like you spend a lot of time driving a :No power locks, no power windows, no adaptive cruise, no front camera, no media screen worth mentioning, no factory gps, no led headlamps, no lane assist, no climate control. So, I know it is not apples to apples. It was bare.
Do you have a thread with this tummy tucker skid plate.I do a lot of custom stuff on my own jeeps... if I did not the rubicon makes good sense for a rock crawler, well even an overlanding truck because you want the lockers when you need lockers.
I bought a sport Max Tow with the aux. switches and zero other add ons. 38,000 cost. About 2 years into having it... I modified it. I have under 10,000 in after market into it (that I don't expect to increase its book value- I do it for fun, not an investment). I did all of the work myself.
What do I have?
4:88 gears, 3.5 inch lift with fox shocks, 37 inch tires, steel bumpers, "tummy tuck skid plates that add 3/4 inch belly clearance with about 10 lbs more in weight, ARB air lockers that are not "nannied" by the computer rev limiter, Topper and roof rack, 35 spline chrome-molly rear axle shafts, RCV fronts 32 spline, 1350 front driveshaft, manual sway bar disconnect not "nannied" by computer, a tazer, 100 watt solar panel on front hood, stealth light bar, onboard air, rock hard sliders, Rancho steering box brace, and Method "beadgrip" tech rims. Many homemade parts cause its fun.
I still don't have the 4:1 transfer case, but crawl mode can make me just as slow -up or down hill with a push of a button. Most of the time the low range is low enough.
I don't have the coolest looking hood... or frame braces of the mojave. I do have the similar rear locker function where you are not limited by the computer.
No power locks, no power windows, no adaptive cruise, no front camera, no media screen worth mentioning, no factory gps, no led headlamps, no lane assist, no climate control. So, I know it is not apples to apples. It was bare.
But my upgrade costs have all been cash, and gradual- as I had means to do each stage.I had no lockers for two years. I think I am satisfied with my choice to go this route, but my son-in-law went out of the box with a fully loaded rubicon. I have freinds that did the same thing... we all do most of the same trails, even the rubicon that is mostly stock. Those include metal masher, hells revenge, posion spider, rusty nail, golden crack, elephant hill, etc... they all go to similar places without issue.
I bought an 07 Jk that came with a rear locker and the sway bar disconnect and the 32 spline axles with 4:10 gearing. It would be great if they did something like that in a lower cost trim....like the willy's trim or something. The black grill is cool- but to add a few trail functions to the sport would be a good seller!
