How small it is? Lol ok. They’re wider than an F-150 and roughly the same length as a gladiator.
I saw one in Big Sky, Montana last month.
They kinda look like a squared away Colorado. Kinda. Not ugly.

But I’m a poor...
I’ll never buy an EV. Ever.

Green energy is a Pandora’s box in that it costs more to maintain, costs more to build and it doesn’t last long enough to recoup costs before you have to rebuild it... And laymen can’t afford.
So... the only people who actually benefit from it is the manufacturers of all of those products who have their hands and money in every single democratic politicians pockets.
???
Climate change is a fallacy.
Read your Bible. Nothing will end this world until the Lord says it’s time.
This planet has seen worse than we do. This world has spent trillions upon trillions chasing the “green” answer and all we have to show for it is EV batteries that are toxic waste and need to be replaced too often, and wind energy that costs money to build and then you wait for the breeze while you rebuild every other wind generator while they cannot provide enough energy to pay for themselves...

It’s a fool’s errand.

I commend taking care of our planet. I’m an outdoorsman and hunter.
But this “green” energy tirade is worthless.
Costs far outweigh the returns... and furthermore, our current technology puts us so far bellow any other carbon producer it’s redundant.
Shut them down. Shut down the polluters and make them follow the same rules/laws/practices that we do, and you’ll see change.

But as long as the worst polluters are given a free pass because “reasons and feelings” nothing will ever change.
It’s not going to change no matter how “green” anyone gets.

Until you or someone gets China and India and the other worst polluters to clean up their air, nothing we do matters. It’s like pissing on a brush fire.

I saw one recently and also was surprised at how small it looked. I'd always thought it was more of a full size (F150 size) truck. If I was rich, I'd absolutely drive one instead of my gladiator ?

Why do y’all keep saying that. It’s not true.
They’re pretty big. So is the Gladiator in length, but the Rivian is 8.3” wider. So many jokes… The Rivian is almost 2” wider than an F-150 and 14.8” shorter.

Gladiator-218”L/73.8”W 137.3” Wheelbase
Rivian- 217.1”L/81.8”W 135.9” Wheelbase

F-150 Super Crew 5.5’ bed
231.9”L/79.9”W 145.0” Wheelbase

F-150 Super Crew 6.5’ bed
253.7”L/79.9”W 156.8” Wheelbase

The majority of the F-150 Super Crews sold have a 5.5’ bed

Just because it Isn’t small doesn’t mean it doesn’t look small. The designers did a good job of hiding its actual size.

Just this morning I was following a mid 90s Lincoln town car. I was thinking wow remember those big cars. Then we pulled up to a Toyota Matix. Didn’t look that big anymore.

I understand the dimensions and I am impressed by the rivians width, but in person it looks much smaller than an F150.

I consider comparing a JT to the Rivian about like comparing apples to a tomato. Or ketchup to mustard.... it's a vehicle but not the same purpose of use. I'm sure the Rivian performs good / better in some areas and ways just like a JT, Wrangler or Bronco performs better in many or other areas.
I've seen one on Wednesday and a Tesla sedan both of the S### heads driving them about hit my JT as I was going through Nashville TN. That and "doing the B.S. "brake check" plus weaving S### on I65.... to busy texting than to drive. I guess it's like owning a BMW or Mercedes you got to be a S### head to own or drive one.
? :like::LOL: nothing directed at anyone and partly joking some not.

☝ this - why compare the two, when they're two completely different vehicles, with different uses.

I sure wouldn’t mind my Gladiator going 0-60 in 3 seconds though?. These EVs are really starting to kick ass performance-wise.

Battery life expectancy concerns seem to be fake news. Expected battery life is 300K to 500K miles now for Teslas which equates to between 21-35 years of ownership . 400 miles per charge would really help alleviate the range anxiety concerns though.

We use our Gladiator still for long trips and the wife’s base Tesla Model 3 is our commuter as it gets max 200 miles per charge. But even the base model jumps off the line Iike no other ICE car I’ve owned.

Two of the first ”new” technologies I expect to see any year now on EV Trucks (because they exist in other one-off vehicles) are (1) vehicle-to-vehicle power charging, and (2) that thing where you pivot, say the left wheels go backwards while the right side wheels go forward.

Personally I would love to be able to power my house or a cabin from my truck for a few days. I assume everyone will copy Ford on that.

@Mojave2021, I didn't read a word of your post - I kept staring at your avatar with a Bandit Trans Am in your garage. ?

LOL thanks. Yeah the Trans Am is my main reason why I wouldn’t be happy if they banned used ICE cars?. I’m sure our Tesla M3 is worse on the environment than the 2k miles I average on the Trans Am annually.

If you haven't seen it watch the Long Way Up.
https://www.longwayup.com

They beat the crap out of those trucks. Not saying it is a JT replacement, but they didnt seem afraid to abuse them. At one point one of the wheels essentially got torn away from the chassis and there were some cold weather issues. Interesting challenge for the electric Harley's and the Rivian's.

@Mojave21 gorgeous TA!

I love the Rivian. It would be on my list for next vehicle. Except... It's not a convertible. I'm hoping jeep pulls through with one in the next 3 to 4 years.
