I’m out of country until next year but I can snag this for you when I’m back home if still needed by then.

It is tough to get a measurement of the gap, the roof line is slightly arched and then there are the raised ribs. The front edge towards at the center of the GFC sits about 5/8” from the roof. At the rib it is probably less than 1/2”. At the sides it is 1 3/8”.

Would anyone be willing to get a measurement from the mating surface of the bed rails to the bottom of the tent?

Designing a DIY GFC style camper and just want to make sure I have enough clearance for bed twist.

Any Mojave owners with a GFC camper who can speak to their experience with it, especially regarding suspension sag and ride/handling changes?

It sags..
It wouldn't be too much of an issue if not for the fact that the JTM sits higher in the front. I measured before install and was prepared for this so I also installed airbags.

Mine stock without the GFC was only maybe .5" higher in the back, once I had the GFC installed it drooped and inch in the back. At the time I also installed a Decked system and in total ended up with a lower rear. I added Daystar .75" rear spacers and it was pretty much level. Inflated the bags to about 10psi and it rides at about .5" higher in the rear, like stock with all my gear in the back.

The rear springs on the JTM are likely only 5lb/in or 10lb/in softer than the other models, I searched and there is little difference in spring tensile strength. Most of the difference between springs options is in the length of the springs. I have 1" lift rear Eibach springs that I need to install at some point.

As far as ride characteristics, it rides pretty much the same. Spacers made no difference in ride quality and depending on inflation and loading the bags either make it a bit bouncier or pretty much like stock.

Dont let the Mojave suspension deter you, eventually it will need replacement anyway. Its not hard to correct things for these campers, especially the GFC as it is pretty much the lightest option.

My $.02, buy some .75" rear spacers and call it a day.

Thanks so much! You replied a couple months too late as I went ahead and ordered a Alu-Cab Contour. Couldn’t justify the camper. but this is still helpful. I’m still considering getting the Mojave X springs to keep the ride stock, but unsure how much of a difference it would really make. Going back to stock bed by taking off my rebel offroad half rack (~165 lbs) did make a significant difference in ride quality. You don’t really notice the weight of your additional bed accessories until you go back to stock and feel how incredible the Mojave is to drive stock

I’m thinking about buying a GFC but I want to make sure my mountain bike will fit in the back. Does anyone have a measurement from the top rib of the bed to the bottom of the sleeping platform?

I can grab one, but I can say I can fit my 27.5 P4 in the back with the bars rotated.

I have a bed mat in so its probably more in a truck with just a liner or paint. But Bed to top is 41". From the top of the bedside to the bottom of the inside of the cap its about 23.5".

Anybody have an exact measurement from the floor of the bed to the bottom of the GFC towards the front of the bed with it all closed up? I'd love to switch over from a rack and RTT to one of these but I run 40s and I won't go without a spare.

My thought was to run one of the AEV spare tire mounts in conjunction with the GFC, so I'd need probably 40ish inches of vertical clearance. The rig in the picture has a 37" spare most likely so I know it'd be close

I replied to a similar question above but it is around 40-41" tall inside. The front and back are the same height, only issue I'd see is the frame is on top of the bed would probably protrude far enough to conflict with that tire mount.

I'd recommend finding a way to secure it lying flat in the bed.

Oh man I skimmed the thread but didn't see that conversation, sorry to rehash. Laying flat just takes up so much space, almost defeats the point in my eyes. As it is I have it hanging from a rack so I can still haul lumber, firewood, etc.

Have you seen the tire mount in person? I haven't. It seems to mount to the cargo rail in the front. It's one of those things where it almost seems like I'd need to roll the dice and see if I can make it work with some maybe minor modifications. I'd be fine spacing it forward a bit if that's even possible with the design of the bracketry.

Thanks for the info!

No worries, I wasn't trying to be pedantic about it.

I havent seen the tire mount. It does look like you can keep the bulk head trail rail though, which would make it the only one you can keep because the side rails have to be removed.

Looking back at the earlier posts, Im attaching an image with the rails highlighted. They stick out ever so slightly into the bed area and may interfere with a larger tire. That'd be my only concern.

I looked briefly at the install for the AEV mount and it does have a hub bracket for mounting that pushes it out some, so it may work.

The real issue would be getting it out of the bed. Youd probably have 1" of clearance so it be easiest to raise the tent and lift the bed panels to get it out, just a little extra work.
