Think I was on my 5th or 6th glass replacement here in AZ since purchasing Gladis. Been hearing quite a bit about Jeep’s Gorilla Glass so reached out to my insurance to see if it was covered by my glass replacement policy (Unlimited glass replacement ..and they come to me to do it). Lo and behold ....it’s covered. What the hell...let’s see if it makes any difference.
First off, the glass is significantly “beefier” than OEM standard glass. I told the wifey I think it is even more clear. It was quickly noticeable right after quick 15 minute mobile install. Sounds weird and I cannot explain it.
Granted, it has only been 2 weeks, but along with around Phoenix driving, also throw in a nearly 1000 mile round trip to Death Valley into the mix as well. This glass initially appears to be significantly superior to the OEM. With 1000+ mile road trip I would have expected the usual “riddling” of stone marks on the glass that I would get with OEM even with it only being 2 weeks. So far there is none on the GG. It’s clear as the day it was put on. Check mark in the positive column.
On way to DV I did take a significant stone hit right in center of windshield around of all places Area 51 ?. Told the wifey ...”well, that didn’t take long”. Checked it out at the Area 51 roadside cafe and no stone marks at all. Not even the obligatory mark you get from a direct stone hit On the glass. Score another positive for GG. I am confident that the hit we took would have cracked OEM.
While in DV we went off road quite a bit. We explored a lot of abandoned mine sites as well as some of the usual tourist trips like the canyons and some ghost towns and they were all dirt/stone roads. No issues at all with off pavement travel. I was expecting stones to be flying all over.
I can’t speak to any “adjustments“ that need to be made with any accessories, so no comment there.
Overall, so far, I highly recommend it. Will come back here for any update once I get a few more miles on her.
Obligitory pics because I have no shame ??
