Hello all,

Since the "Forced Induction" is off the table for the JT 2022 GPEC5 Rubicon for the foreseen future, what other power upgrade options exist?

I'm scheduled for a software "Stage" upgrade early next month, I don't know precisely what it includes, but they claim an additional ~50HP; next week, I'm scheduled to put on the Borla ATAK Dual Round Angle Cut Ceramic Black and also the Momentum GT Cold Air Intake System w/Pro DRY S Filter Media, AFE manufacture claims an additional 12HP.

What would you recommend in addition to the above?

Thank you all in advance!
Cheers,
Ram

Look at a throttle body ported and half shafted by Fastman. He does very nice work. Be prepared for the naysayers to chime in.

You don't have to buy a new throttle body from him to get the work done. You can send him your throttle body or one you acquired.
Thx much!

I was looking at the V6 Intake Adapter Kit by MMX, which seems the same. Are you familiar with them? and also with their Ported Upper and Lower Intake Manifold?

I'm a bottom feeder. I bought 2 throttle body's on the cheap from a place that did a couple Hemi swaps, they looked like new. I ran one then switched and ran the other, when I had confidence in them I sent the two off to be modified by Fastman, then, I sold one to a member here. Still have my original if needed, but no prob with about 20,000 on the Fastman. Although I have definitely done a few small engine related mods, I really try to restrain myself from the more power rabbit hole. I do have the GPEC2 but have no desire for a tune or forced induction. I have the Mopar Intake, Fastman throttle body, Mishimoto catch can, Banks Pedal Monster, Corsa exhaust. I'm done, it's adequate for me.

I had a Fastman throttle body on my 5.7 Hemi Power Wagon. On the 5.7, the throttle body is a choke point. Also had long tube headers and a custom tune by Hemifever.

Thanks Russ, do you have any thoughts on the V6 Intake Adapter Kit by MMX, and also with their Ported Upper and Lower Intake Manifold?
I know very little know about that company. But with the larger throttle body and ported manifolds. You will make more power higher in the rev range. You might lose some down low. When my Nismo was NA. I did the ported throttle bodies, ported upper and lower manifolds , cold air intakes, long tube headers and a few hours on a dyno tuning it. I lost some low end power and gained a bunch up top. Had to move my redline from 7,200 to 8,000 rpms. Also had to install an ATS crank dampener too because of the increase in rpms. I gained around 60 hp and 30 ftlbs of torque for a bucket full of money.

hmm, that's good to know; my goal is to gain more power in the low range than in the upper, so maybe a larger throttle body and ported manifolds are not the way to go...

You don't need a full cnc port on the manifolds. Just a port match and a general clean up of the ports will make more power without affecting the bottom end. But with a plastic manifold. Not much to do inside as it's pretty clean.

This is from another forum that I'm on.
The general rule of thumb is.
If you add a cold air intake. No tune is needed.
If you add a cat back. No tune is needed.
If you add test pipes or long tube headers. No tune is needed.
If you combine 2 of the above. No tune is needed.
If you combine all 3 of the above. Tune is needed. With the 2022 ECU. You can't do it. But I don't know how much you can get away with the stock ECU. And how much it will adjust for the changes.

that's really helpful! I do plan on cold air intake, cat back but no long tube headers, and also early next month, I'm scheduled for a "Stage" software upgrade; I'm very curious to learn what is included in that software upgrade for the GPEC5, I will update once I meet the tuner (he's currently on summer vacation)

I'm not up to date on the gas 3.6 as I have the diesel. Think everyone will want to know about this software upgrade because of the security issue.

I'll update here once I know more.
Yes please - alot of the newer FCA/Stellantis vehicles use this new PCM (including the Wrangler 392 IIRC) - i'd be surprised if more tuners weren't working on an unlock.

while looking for a solution, I've encountered this:

All 2022 Jeep applications require an unlocked PCM and gateway bypass module. Swap kits include a one time unlocked PCM swap, and the required gateway bypass module. Support is available for both the 3.6 E-Torque and standard 3.6 engines!

*NOTE: Jeep is using a new PCM on some of these new vehicles. The new PCM can be identified by the 2 connectors at the end of the box, as opposed to the 2 connectors in the middle of the box on the supported PCM. Please contact our support team at 561-908-0040 if you are unsure about yours.

can someone please explain what they mean by PCM swap, by their connectors description, it sounds like the ECM, do they offer an unlocked ECM swap kit for the 2022 model?
