So aside from lack of super charger support for the GPEC5 is there any other known advantage to having the 2A vs the 5? My build date 11/21 Willys has the 5 but I never intend to SC mine.

Also, seems that since the 5 has been in use in so many other FCA models with super chargers, someone would have a way to support the 5's in the Jeeps. Or at least the roadmap has already been written on the "how" to do it. Guess not enough market maybe??

5 appears so far to be "hack proof" No one has been able to crack it to tune it. (unless something has changed - HP Tuners doesn't support the GPEC5, a while back said they couldn't get into it)

I bet they have 2 suppliers and use what they can on the line and make sure, obviously, that the batches they build in have the correct harnesses
My Sep 2021 auto 3.6 is 2A.

Hey, so, only because I'm too far away to pick it up and he doesn't want to ship (26 hour drive round trip) or otherwise I'd have bought this last week, check this out and chat with the seller a bit.

Looks like you are new to the board, so check out his posts, he was the GO TO GUY for superchargers and tuning. His experience didn't end great, but I haven't lost all hope, and like I said, I'd have picked up his setup if I was within a reasonable distance. Definitely know what you are getting into though with SC'ing the 3.6.

@DAVECS2 is the guru we didn't deserve, and hate to see him leave, but bless him for what he did.
Thank you!

My Sep 2021 auto 3.6 is 2A.
I've seen indications that Ram trucks and others may come with either one these days.
I don't know which chipset the 5 has but the 2A is Motorola. Supplier issues??????

That is the only logical conclusion I can think of is supplier issues. Cost savings and manufacturing efficiencies would dictate to stick with one design.

I am sure their build inventory control can project what PCM they are getting at what quantities and queue up and build in batches.

The GPEC 5 version was used due to supply issues. It is the newer version of the ECU but is backwards compatible. 2a and 5 were used based on what they had.

Based on a conversation with Dave cs2, the gpec5 is hackable, the problem is the memory is volatile and will crash the ecu when a rewrite is tried most of the time.

That may be the technical reason and the companies out there that do tunes are just saying "we haven't figured out how to get into it yet".
At least that's the explanations I found a while back.
