Wrong site, I know….

Since getting my JT my wife has realized that her minivan is woefully inadequate. Test drove a bronco that I was pulling for but she was generally disappointed and not on board at all.

She wants the new 4 door wrangler (kids 7,11) but is worried that long term the jeep “quirks” could override the fun of having a jeep. She’s also considering the 3 row grand Cherokee L. It’s boring, but it’s better than a Honda minivan.

Anyone here own a new grand and can comment on how they like it?

My daughter just bought an L last month, and so far loves it. She has 4 kids ages 2-9.

That’s good to hear, thank you. Looks like they redid the regular grand Cherokee for 2022 nice since the L was new for 2021 it won’t change. I’m pulling for a wrangler but we already have my truck so it’s a little redundant.

Just traded my wife's 17 Wrangler unlimited in for it 2 weeks ago.

She loves it and so do I.

She said that she wanted her wrangler to take the doors off all the time, but since I have them off on my gladiator She doesn't need her wrangler.

It's supppppper spacious and the interior is a for sure upgrade.

I traded a Grand Cherokee L Summit in for my Gladiator. The L was very nice and had all the bells and whistles. It just wasn't me. I like my Gladiator more.

Recently sold our ‘15 Grand Cherokee and bought a ‘21 Grand Cherokee, not the L. It Is my wife’s daily driver and she loves it. The ‘15 serviced us well and had about 80k miles when we sold it. Only about 4K miles on the ‘21 but so far it’s a really nice vehicle.

Okay, this MAY be an unpopular opinion, but I feel that minivans are boring, high-utility, super-convenient, super-comfortable vehicles that do those things better than pretty much anything else. Modern SUVs like the Grand Cherokee are just slightly less boring minivans that don't do the other stuff quite as well. The only reason I would personally consider one is if I needed the slight increase in ground clearance over a minivan.

Loved my 2019 Grand Cherokee. I do not like the direction they went with the new ones. They did to the Grand Cherokee what Dodge did to the Durango and Ford did with the Explorer. Took an off-road worthy SUV and tuned it into nothing more than a boring grocery getter.

2010 Chrysler T&C here, poke fun all you want but I've loved that thing for the last 8 years. Haul 7 comfortably, haul sheets of plywood, pulls my smoker and mower trailer, comfortable, and 27mpg on the highway...

and it was way cheaper than any of the SUVs available at the time that would provide similar to the above

That’s not really what I’m seeing in the reviews. The chassis looks darn capable. Still offers the Quadra trac 1 and 2 and Quadra drive 2. Also, they still offer a lsd in the rear plus the Quadra drive offers an e lsd in the rear. Air suspension gets you up to like 11” of ground clearance. Driving sports tv did a ok off road test with one, don’t know if you saw it but it still looks capable .TFL also did a Jeep off road course and did some rock crawling on some pretty gnarly stuff . I was impressed.

This is along the lines of our thoughts. She loves the comfort and amenities that the van provides, but doesn’t want or need to be a mini van mom. She also doesn’t want a more standard mom ride like the Tahoe or Q5.

The things that make a wrangler so fun, will be the things that annoy her as she’s driving the kids 1:30 up the freeway to see her mom on a gusty January day. We have my jeep and she’s always welcome to it whenever she wants the jeep experience.

Agree with all your thoughts as well. The grand Cherokee isn’t exactly “fun” but it’s a lot more fun than a Yukon XL. We are headed over in a few hours for some test driving.

Thanks for the thoughts so far, sounds like it’s an encouraging option.

Good to see some positive comments on the new Grand, because everything I'd seen on it from owners until today had been negative with a few different issues, UConnect 5 being one of them.

Here's an example of just one experience I have seen:

"Traded our 20 Durango in on one of the new Grand Cherokee Ls on Thursday. So far regretting it. The first day we had it at 45 miles the service 4wd light came on then we stopped and restarted the car a couple times and it went away. Had them run diagnostics on it and they saw it tripped and thought it was a software glitch, they said it it happens again to call. Next day it happens again and my wife noticed it binding up when she would turn the wheels while the light was one. Shut it off and it went away again. So its in the dealer this morning for the second time in under of week of ownership. Also not thrilled with the new 10" Uconnect's in these, its been very glitch compared to the 8" in my Gladiator or Durango. The skip song switch on the steering wheel only works some of the time and its been freezing the radio when I try to connect to car play and I have to turn the car on and off to reset it."

We have a 2019 Ltd. Got it a week before we got the Gladiator in July of 2019. Traded a Hemi 2011 GC Overland for it. See Sig for all the GC's I've had. Wife loves it. She test drove a regular Cherokee first and didn't like it...too small and cramped (she's 5'8"). She had learned to drive in the 2011 GC (She is from Ukraine and didn't drive over there) and that was what she was comfortable driving in so, we went for the 2019 Ltd. with the Pentastar. MUCH better fuel economy. I was lucky to get 16 mpg on the highway from the 2011 (the 2008 Hemi Overland would get 21 mpg on the highway, mild 1.5" lift/leveling kit and 32"s on it) and we get right around 26 mpg straight highway and around 19 mpg mixed from this one.

She also uses it do deliver flower arrangements for her new and budding business as a florist so it works well in that capacity too.
