So... I searched and can't find anything on this.

Stock battery is a Group 48, the upgraded battery that comes with Aux Switches and possibly other options is a group 94R. Dimensions:

CODES INCHES MILLIMETERS
L W H L W H
Group 94R Battery H7 LN4 12.4375 6.9375 7.5
Group 48 Battery H6 LN3 11 6.9375 7.5

Only difference is length but 1.5" could be substantial.

Do Jeeps with the upgraded battery have a bigger/different tray or will a 94R fit right into a Jeep with the "regular" Group 48 battery?

Interesting. Seems like the JK had a similar situation. There was a "spacer" in the battery try. Remove it and run the bigger battery.

Does your jeep have aux switches? If not, I can snap a pic of mine to compare.

No... but I will be adding the OEM ones same time as I add the front trail cam. I figure I should put a 94R in there while I am at it! Going to use an 860CCA X2 Power. Thanks! Hopefully I have a spacer and you don't - that would probably mean the 94R would drop right in there with spacer removed.

Give me a sec to go look and I'll let you know.

Ok, the factory battery is an AGM in mine. The battery is a little over 12" long, so looks like the theory of a 94 in there is right..

Thanks! I'll see if there is a spacer is mine.

Even if you don't care about aux switches or battery drain, an AGM battery should be installed period if you offroad.

@jti does yours look like this? Front of battery tray.
I am assuming that is the extra space. That spacer might come off in mine I'll find out soon.

OK, so I don’t have the Auxiliary Switches in my Sport S, but I do have the Towing Package, and I have the longer battery.
So any option package that included the upgraded alternator probably has the bigger battery.

I only see the battery mentioned with the Aux switches. The tow packages only mention alternator. Yes @Kevin_D has the bigger battery. Not sure.

July 2019 build date on my max tow without factory aux switches, I also have the shorter battery with the spacer in the tray at the front edge of the battery. I'll keep this thread in mind when I need to swap it out in a few years. Good info here.

I think this is correct. My Mojave has the tow package but no aux switches. I've got the smaller 650 CCA battery and the higher rated 240A alternator.
I only see that the larger battery comes with the Aux switches.
