Handgun safe/lockbox recommendations

I’ve seen someone opened up the bottom of the seat to install a locking hasp. I’m not certain but I believe the back of the seat has a zipper. I’d suggest looking at the Katzkin seat cover installation process to see what that job would take.

separate the key from the fob
and put the key on a key ring.

is that key fob cover the AJT Design? How hard was it to install the fob?

Yes. I like it a lot.
It screws together
and is somewhat slimmer and lighter
than the jeep fob.
Transferring the tiny "chip"
was a bit of bother
but I do not recall any problems.
I would buy one again.

Threedom also makes cases for them that come with a separate Key holder that you can put the transponder in the key Holder so you don't have to have the keyfob with you to lock and unlock the JT.

Similar to NY, CT has strict rules regarding storage and the glove box/center console isn't allowed, even with third-party safes. I swapped out my rear storage box with the JCR MOLLE Storage Basket and then bolted a Vaultek Barikade 2.0 through the basket mounting holes to secure it to the vehicle. The lockbox on the right is due to the fact we must separate the ammo from the weapon as well. The Vaultek lid isn't able to open completely as you see in the photo, but it's an acceptable amount to grab what you need. A spacer and longer bolt is needed to raise the safe a little from the bottom of the basket so that the manual key backup is able to accessed with full range of turning motion.

Astoundingly stupid laws to make politicos look like they’re doing something useful.

On topic, the Vaultek boxes, while expensive, seem to be very well done. I’ve really enjoyed mine after getting over the sticker shock.
