I did a lot of research, read reviews, watched a couple of informative youtube reviews - one showing the winch being used under some pretty extreme conditions, and figured it was fine for me.

VERY nice looking, clean install and front end. Well done.

The Apex is a large winch, you may have seen how I made a tweak to how my cable exited the top and the cable clamp I used to hold it away from the grill.

I have been considering this myself.
Been reading reviews which all seem fairly good.
I’m still a bit on the skeptical side since most things I get from HF are one and done, and hope that the apex doesn’t fail when needed most.

They've been rated well for some time now. And I've found that some HF stuff is as good as I might find elsewhere. I have a touch-up gun I expected to use once and trash - after all, it cost me a whopping 17 bucks. That was several years ago, I still have it and still use it. Their Icon torque wrenches are actually more accurate than some of the "name brands". Yes, you have to watch what you buy - but I found some stuff was as good as what I've bought from Eastwood. In fact, some are the exact same things.
These winches seem to be an exception to the "one and done" thing, or the "disposable" thing some of their stuff is like. I bought some number punches from them 3 or 4 years ago - used them once in a piece of mild steel and rounded the numbers down!

That was my one issue was the power supply out the back hit the grill so I just had to force it. I like your solution may have to look into that when I have to pull my grill in a few weeks.

I wouldn’t flinch personally. I had a HF 9,000lb winch on my last rig. It worked awesome and thankfully I never needed it for myself, but the few times I creatively needed it, it worked every time without any trouble.

Question: what mounting plate has anyone used for the Badlands winch and the rubi steel bumper?

Meant to add this. Both winches are on the factory steel bumper. I used the rockhard winch plate for both.

I have used mine to pull fully buried (in sand) F-250s and Chevy 1500s and 2500s.

Didn't stress it one bit.

ShadowsPapa - love your set-up and am getting ready to pull the trigger on the Badlands winch. Can you confirm which mounting plate you used?
