Not to add confusion, but on the JKU it IS possible to run just the Freedom Panels. I've never seen it done in practice, but it was advertised that way. I'd assume you could do the same on the JL and JT.

In practice I find once I put the hard top on y JKU I never take parts off. The Freedom Panels are novel, but just too much of a pain in the butt to deal with.

Once I switch to the soft top, I pretty much always leave the Sunrider open and the rear window removed. The rear window is a pain in the butt.

I'm having a tough time seeing SPACE behind the JT Rear Seat for anything thicker than 1/4" without causing any damage .
Wether the Softtop rear window is Plastic, Glass or a derivative of, i.e.; plexiglass . . . some kind of damage is sure to happen as soon as somebody leans back in their seat or adjusts their fanny to fart . . . :giggle: ! Which is why they should of made the rear sear ADJUSTABLE - TO THE FORE, 2 inches ! ? IT's not to late JEEP ! You've delayed the release now, so consider it ?

I really fail to understand why Jeep didn’t engineer the top so that the glass could not just roll all the way down “into” the rear wall of the truck. You can’t really stow the glass behind the rear seats because the seats have to attach to the rear wall of the truck. Am certain that they did not do this because it would have made the truck a tad more expensive. But hey why not make that an option for people to pay for should they want to pay a few extra bucks? Ok a tad more than a few extra bucks.

Oh and for those of you that may still want to have a removeable rear window I suggest that you check out Breezer removeable rear windows. They even come with storage bags for the rear windows once they are removed. And I don’t think they will have rear defrost.

Hey Guys, I just joined today and can't see how old this conversation is regarding rear window roll over inside the back wall, I kind of impossible due to not enough space vertical as person placed CAD file for rear iner fender . there is also more room also must need for regulator mechanism which push and pull glass windows.
than Only one option left is Just remove complete window from rear and place back when needed to close. But in Automotive vehicle possible AIr and water leakage is very common due to rough use and so much vibration while vehicle in the speed.
innovative designers working on it , but so far no one success very well except those Breezerwindow people make 2 section and remove in few trucks.
but who knows that how many people buy those windows to do enough revenue and dealers who can remove and install nationwide?
If anyone has answer please place here or email me . Kantidesai@yahoo

I frankly think they should have made a power roll down rear window. Should have been relatively easy to do. Certain there are some engineering challenges to it since the roof is removable. But this would really help to let a lot of air into the car when the top is on. I see lots of pick ups with roll down rear windows.
I had a power roll down rear window on my Toyota Tundra. I loved it! The dealer told me that Toyota has a patent on this which is why no other truck manufactures do it. I guess we have to wait for the patent to expire, and all trucks will have roll down rear windows.

For everyone saying the glass should roll down into the truck... how do you imagine it interesting with the removable roof? Needs to be separate but come together for watertight seal.

You would need this to be frameless widow. One miscue by the owner not setting the L back into place quite right and the rear window will shatter on rolling it up.

You also need to design access for the motors and stuff, so now you're adding like 4-6" of cab depth. Either losing the little rear leg space there is or stretching the already long design.

Also the JT is based off the JL which has no possibility for such a feature. You'd be adding a lot of cost to the JT.

Also it's a great way to get CO poisoning if you don't do like the manual says and roll down door windows at the same time (former 4Runner owner) in the SUVs. In the truck, it's a great way to get a bunch of bed debris in your cab.

I don't fully buy this. Didn't blazers & broncos have roll-down glass back in the day too? Doesn't the Titan have a partial roll-down version now?

Yeah that does sound like a nightmare. Although I guess the models I mentioned above figure it out.

I'm personally a fan of a power sliding middle panel. Pretty simple setup and doesn't take up much room at all. Just a power window motor somewhere and then a cable drive from it to the window panel. The cable drive could disconnect when removing the hardtop. The beauty of this is that you could potentially add it to any MY if you got the right hardtop.

I didn’t know that the Titan had a roll down and just looked at it (nice partial roll down). The entire Tunda rear window disappeared, which the kids would crawl through all the time. They made the rear window on the JT so small a dog can’t even fit.

Not saying I disagree it would be difficult to get right, but don't the bronco and blazer both have roll-down windows and removeable hardtops?

The back glass is heavy and the cranks and motors were notorious for wearing out, in the blazers at least
