Ohh, ok. I think I'd worry about the corrosion going on between the two layers. But removing them once a year for a clean up would probably keep things from getting bad.
I’ve had them on for over 50k miles and the steps look great behind the armor.

I installed mine [Gen 3] in late 22 and have no change to my suspension or tires on my 22 Mojave.
When you're as short as my wife 5"1' and I 5"5' are they're an absolute requirement. The other brands of extendable steps literally say the warranty gets voided if you go off road.

I've used them all over the country to include Moab and numerous trails across the Rockies, AZ, and MO. I have completed 4 Badge of Honor trails. I have scrapes and scratches in many places but they've held up wonderfully and work great.

This exactly. The other steps are just steps. These are expensive because you’re buying steps and rock sliders in one purchase. I’m not advocating for these if you have a huge vertical leap and are young and tall. Just get rock sliders and spend less, but if you want to keep your spouse and kids happy, they are game changing.

Like everyone has already said, If you are going hard core wheeling, buy the armor package. Mine don't see extreme wheeling so I don't have the armor and they take light hits fine. This weekend a friend who does stupid things in rocks (JKU with a hemi) took some serious hits on his (has the armor) and they did just fine. Still work great and took almost no damage (scrapes and small dents). Meanwhile, his PSC ram took a hit and is only semi functional.

Crap, that's a hell of a mark down. I might have to jump a littler earlier than planned...

If you going to use them as sliders and rock crawl at some place like the Rubicon, you absolutely need the armor to avoid dents. I have them with the Armor for 4 years now, and I have made lots of scrapes, and I just I hit them with spray paint all the time after scraping them up on Jeep badge of honor trails. They will not dent with the armor unless you make a big mistake and drop them full blast on a boulder. With the armor, If you are easing over boulders properly, you will only scrape them up. Then, you just spray paint them with a piece of cardboard to avoid overspray, and they look brand new. Once you add the armor, they are very heavy, so, if you have to work on them, you will need to setup some scafolding like my pictures below. I really like them, and would buy them again, -- but, only with the armor.

Is anyone concerned about weight? My '23 Mojave already has a Decked system with gear in it, steel stubby front with a Warn 10s, and I tow sometimes. I'd love to get these, best looking sliders hands down, plus the step function, theyre rad. BUT, the weight keeps me from pulling the trigger. Anyone have any solid info on the weights of them versus stock Rubi rails or other similar sliders?

I have put in some Synergy rear shocks to handle the weight and maintain ride height, (still need to install front springs) so that'll help maintain the weight but concerned about going from my avg. 12.8mpg to worse... or other issues when adding weight

They're very heavy, but it’s worth it if you need steps. But I don’t know how much heavier they are than other thick steel sliders.

Can you install the armor on them after they are on the Jeep, or do they have to come off?

I would definitely install the armor if you are doing any type of off roading. I put the on my 2020 Gladiator with 4.5 lift and 37” tires. Just finished the Rubicon. The sliders took a beating, some minor scratches in coating but no dents. Put the armor on after installing the steps, make install easier. Follow Northridge 4X4 install video. Hardest part is the body mount bolts. They’re put on with some good lock tight. Broke one of the off. Was able to do a not so fun fix

Have any of you guys had these in the ice and snow yet? I see the newest ones have been changed up to deal with cold temps but what about the 8 inch thick chunk of ice that built up during your two hour drive?

I live at 8,600’ in Colorado. They’re fine. If they get coated in a layer of ice, and I don’t notice, the fuse just blows so they don’t damage themselves. I just kick them to free the steps from the ice and swap in a new fuse. It only happens a couple times per winter.
