Head? No I heard it was touching it to your elbow.

We are season ticket holders to a minor league hockey club, I've been testing holding it to my elbow and not holding it as we exit the stadium to see where can trigger the remote start. While not scientific and I'm not always parking in the same spot, but within about 20' and considering temperature variance I can generally, kinda, sorta say it does seem to trigger 50' sooner touching my elbow vs holding my hand out.

I can say with 100% certainty that my wife thinks I'm a dork doing it though.

Torso or head, the parabolic effect increases the range.

What do you think "FOB" stands for? It's a word, not an initialism or acronym. I have no idea why so many people insist on capitalizing words that don't need it; it happens in every thread that mentions Moab for some reason.

You’re supposed to aim it into your open mouth…

done this for years. Just hold the fob under your jaw and click.
well dang, I’ve been doing the Hokey Pokey, turning myself about then pressing it on my chin. Lol
Seriously the chin thing works. Leaving a Walmart I can start the jeep from the entrance doors. And I park in no man’s land.

It's a real thing and engineers have shown how and why when holding the fob to your temple, it actually increases range. But then so does standing up high and holding the fob as high as you can when clicking to lock or unlock.
One explained it as the fluid or water content in the body and went on into other detail.
It's one of those things that you see and it appears like yet another one of those ACV gummy things or some other tiktok BS but it's based on reality.

Yes, that's true it's not an acronym like Free On Board - it's probably based on one of a couple of German terms - but my first wife's family being pretty much gone, and not having spoken to her for a couple of years now, I've lost what tiny little bits of German I thought I once knew. Mispronounce anything German or based on German and you got a laugh and a quick correction. Anyway, they are all long gone now so I can't ask them.

Never take the fob out of my pocket. Walk up and pull door handle and it unlocks. Push lock button on handle and it locks. Frankly, who cares what the range is as long as it works.

Makes a difference for those using remote start. I start mine this way 99% of the time. Either from my office, or walking through a parking lot approaching it. A few extra seconds of fluid circulation and cabin comfort prep.

Yeah it’s worked on every car I’ve had since like 2011 or 2012 when this came out on TopGear I think it was.

Remote start is pretty nice on cold days, this winter I would remote-start the truck a few minutes before heading out in the snow. From the second floor of the clinic I could start the truck at the back of the lot using the head trick.

It actually works! I honestly don't watch much TV and have only seen a handful of Top Gear episodes but I did see that one. Thanks for bringing that back!
